I have a miele vacuum with a shot motor. I ordered a new one - a Ametek 115923. When it arrived I noticed that the new motor looks identical to the old except the old one has a small circuit board attached to it. Also I see that the old motor is a Ametek 115923-AB.

It looks like I could move the circuit board to the new motor and splice in the wiring so it matches the old motor's configuration. Is this what I should do?

thanks

idk, would need to know more. Like what the board does. Is it to make it a 2 speed motor? Maybe a light control board?

At any rate, it kinda looks like everything should be plug and play. The board should mount to the motor and the wires should just plug in. A lot of times, a part like a motor will not be furnished with a 'separate' part like a control board. It's probably fine to just transfer the extras.

The board apparently controls the speed of the motor. I went ahead and transferred it to the new motor, had to splice in one of the leads from the motor to the vacuums connector. Put it all together and it works fine... problem solved!
