"this is not what the forum is for."

Oh and what? Constant arguing and bickering IS?

I don't need you to warn me on how I get banned. I am fully capable of seeing how and knowing how.

You stated (and I quote) "I have yet to be issued with a warning." Quote end.

I replied with Quote "Well congrats." Quote end.

I was using my quote in a sarcastic manner. Congratulations to you, good for you etc etc for being a goodie two shoes. Why? Because I honestly couldn't care less that you have "yet to be issued with a warning."

Considering you're jumping in, backing someone who is blatantly in the wrong and being rude then you must think think the forum is for arguing and bickering. Nobody here except Alex and yourself is trying to start arguments but you pair seem to have no idea of the concept of right and wrong.

No you don't need me to warn you because that is what the webmaster is for so I'll waste no time with you there on that one.

No. I am not jumping in. I have been on here longer than my profile says. Oh? So just because I back someone I am apparently thick as pig matter and that I must think that this site is for arguing. Well had you of been looking before at a previous deleted thread you would of seen where I made a previous statement about the argument and bickering.

Now, as I don't see any point in your replies I am simply going to ignore them.

You see, I am not actually sure why people don't like me, as far as I am concerned, I don't do anything wrong, all I ever do is express my opinions, but the same people always turn me against everyone, that is true, look up the archives.

Harley,

Yes, as I am learning that. Also that some are here for the hobby, learning, and some for attention or sympathy. A stigma with any forum where they can be anonymous of course.
Some use false names, and multiple accounts to hide behind.

To get back on topic.

I'm not bothered by what a lot of people would consider to be bulky vacuums, I guess i'm used to them, so things like the Simplicity 7 series, Riccar Radiance, Kirbys, etc don't bother me.
As stated we typically have a lot of open carpet space so it does make sense to have a vacuum with a wider path to be able to cover that space in fewer swipes. We also tend to have thicker piles so a lot of the vacuums we have here are designed to handle it.
As for them being tall.... I'm 6'4" a tall vacuum is appreciated, I recall picking up an old Oreck 4000 that things handle came up to my belt
You say American machines are heavy and while i can think of a few good examples, I feel like my heaviest upright is probably my Miele S7

Devin,

Years ago I worked as a porter in a large discount house. I ran a Clarke floor master or something. It had two scrubber pads for cleaning, polishing, or stripping the floors. Two large vacuum motors, a huge solution tank, recovery tank, pump, and a squeegee on the vacuum nozzle.
Self propelled of course, but was it ever bulky to operate.
It made any household machine seem light and easy by comparison.

I think for my own cleaning needs I want something larger. We have three dogs who shed something horrible. We have had some really warm weather the last week or so and with that being the case it put the dogs into another shed. I'm happy for having a larger heavier vacuum. I think it helps with doing what I need to do when the dogs shed and in general cleaning. We have a lot of thick carpet so the weight is always a bonus. As for extras. All of our vacuums have a lot of extra tools to work with. I think in all honesty I use all of them for one reason or another.

Right, ao apparently I'm "Crazy, stupid and dishonest." Aw why thank you 😊

If you're trying to "offend" me, you're going to have to try way harder than that.

Trust me, my skin is far thicker than you realize

It must be an intrinsic part of human nature to cause conflict! As a Sci Fi Fan I'm also constantly caught up in bickering about how bad the Star Wars prequels are, or why Colin Baker is an awful Doctor (He's not imo, my favourite) but I'm surprised there's this much antagonising behaviour within the Vacuum Collecting Community. We're such a small minority in society, we should just be glad other people also enjoy the frankly bizarre hobby of collecting vacuums! Because guess what? In "real life" there aren't many people one can have a good discussion Vacuums. Surely we should view places like this as somewhere we can indulge in our interests? But no, like all "fandoms" we resort to petty squabbles and winding others up. On the subject of US VS UK Vacuums, the situations in which they are used are different, as many have already expressed, homes in the USA tend to be a lot larger than here in the UK, and Vacuuming is entirely subjective to the individual, someone who has a small crowed home may still love using a Kirby or Hoover Concept One due to the cleaning ability, feel, and reliability, or someone in a large open space home may love a Hoover Junior, Sebo Felix or Vorwerk VK150 because of the lightness, agility and cleanness, it's entirely based on what the individual wants and likes to use, Vacuums aren't an intrinsic part of living, they're just a tool at the end of the day, no matter how much a collector may love a vacuum, it's not anything special, it's just a humble appliance needed for an important job. Sure you want to express your opinion, which everyone is entitled to, but no one should presume they are correct in their beliefs, what's the point in "bashing" a brand or type of vacuum just because YOU don't like it? I mean constructive criticism or a calm explanation as to why one likes/dislikes something is so much better than detrimental negativity for no reason other than to annoy fans of particular types. I've ignored the drama throughout the two years I've been involved, but it's reached a point where certain people can't keep their mouths shut and I decided to give you all a piece of my mind.

The DEEP irony in all of this is of course that if it wasn't for HOOVER from America, we wouldn't have had any vacuums anyway, little or large in the beginning.

No, Emma that's not what CSD means. You need to look for Pan Ann videos on You Tube. Specifically the one regarding EasyJet, AirFrance and British Airways.

CSD describes perfectly your presence on this topic.
