Congratulations Seamus! We had that machine in the U.S. as the Silver Moon. It's beautiful and I know you'll love it!

Hey Andy...

Im VERY impressed so far :).

I actually prefer this design to the 5000 series- I think it feels better built, whats your thoughts??

Seamus

1600???

YEOWW thats some suction!

My Champagne goes to 1200, but I haven't really tried it out at that spped yet. I normally run it at 800 for the floors, and either 400 or 600 for the furniture and dusting.
I am very happy with my Miele!

Congrats Seamus!

Hey Jeff :)

Im SO impressed with this :)

New UK cleaners are totally INSANE! as far as wattage goes(2200W is more powerful than most electric heaters for crying out loud- and there are higher wattage machines out there ffs!!).

The 900W setting works fine(as we all know with a decent brushroll the suction is almost secondary). Only time id really use higher is for heavy traffic areas.

Imho all higher wattages really achieve are more power used and more heat created- cant do the motor any good!

Seamus

P.S drop me a mail if youre good for chatting over the weekend ;)

Seamus,

The tool lid does seem a little thinner on the 5000/S5 Series, but they've been bulletproof so far. Here in the U.S., we did have a run of machines that had cordwinder problems and some issues with the elbow at the machine end of the hose. Those problems have been taken care of with this new series.

I've sold roughly 40 Mieles since I took them on last June, and the only problem that I've ever had is with a customer who uses hers daily in a daycare. One of the kids got ahold of the wand and busted off the release button, which was a simple and inexpensive part to replace.

Our local Molly Maids uses a variety of models to supplement their uprights. They usually clean five houses per day, and they have machines going on 10 years old.

I have to admit

I love my Miele!

Lets definately chat soon Seamus, this weekend is not good though, company in town this weekend, maybe next?

Enjoy that Miele!
Jeff

Usually I am an upright guy,Kirbys and Royals-but I do like my collection of Meiles as well. They are very nice canister machines.Love how quiet and powerful they are-also the bare floor tools manuever easier than others. They are VERY well designed.I have a White Pearl,Red Velvet,Orion, and a Capricorn.Oh yes-the "wattage" on mine goes up to 1200W since they run on 120V.Just how powerful are those 220V ones-thats what I am assuming they run from since you can go to 2200W.

Wattages..

Hey Guys

Our current Miele models are either 2000 or 2200W- IMHO way more than is needed!

A standard UK 13A socket can take upto 3200W @230/240V.

Seamus

P.S Jeff- next weekend shouldnt be a problem- look forward to it :)

Bargain!

Hey Seamus!!

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the thread I started, but I've made a purchase...or rather, two!

eBay nos: 120108794703 and 120108794703.

Not exactly what I was looking for - I wanted an electric powerhead - but at those prices (and free postage!)I couldn't turn them down! May end up keeping one and selling one on, or perhaps both and getting one with a powerhead...

I was pretty much set on getting a Felix, but this good opportunity made my mind up for me! The Felix will have to wait another month!

I found the other one :)

Hey Jack

Did a search for Miele completed listings ;)

Thats not a standard Cat and Dog- its the XL version- the body is slightly larger than the standard model and it takes the larger G/N bags- I think it may have been more powerful as well??

Seamus

Ooops! Sorry about that, the other number should be 120108796505. I'm not really sure about the details, only what's on the listings themselves (which don't give the exact model numbers!). Also, I can't find much online about either of them; being discontinued now, they don't seem to be feature on Miele's website anymore. I found a Which? report featuring the blue Solution HEPA 5000 as a best buy...I'm assuming that's the one I've bought! I didn't know they did an XL version - that's very interesting!
