I recently picked up this 1950s vacuum from the thrift store it works great but its missing the little caddy with attachments. I'm looking to buy them if any of you have them. I'm kinda new to this so if I'm doing something wrong sorry!my email is [email protected]

The earlier iteration of the model 88 was two-tone turquoise; lighter on top and darker on the bottom. The later iteration which was produced for quite a few years was the white and turquoise, as you have. I wouldn't be surprised if they just kept using the same owner's manual, as nothing but the color of the cleaner really changed.

you found an airway in DFW??

i live in denton, i picked up a model 66 hoover convertible from a craigslist ad in garland. airways is VERY uncommon down here. what do you collect? maybe we can meet up sometime soon and vintage vacuum geek

The owners manual you have is for the earlier version. Yours is the "Mark II" machine. Your machine would have come with the newer manual. Makes no real difference. Please DO NOT use the white paper bags that are commonly available in the aftermarket for the Air-Way. They will clog quickly, and leak dirt into the Air-Way motor.

I make my own HEPA Air-Way bags. I take a Simplicity type F HEPA bag, and cut it off under the cardboard collar. So I have an "open top" bag. I insert it into the Air-Way, and flare out the open end of the bag. I insert a plastic 'bag top' from an old Air-Way bag (I reuse the old bag top constantly), and fold the end of the HEPA bag toward the middle. Close the Air-Way and you have a perfect HEPA cloth bag for your vintage Air-Way cleaner.
