After the buffing?

I have several Kirbys that have been professionally buffed and know that's it's quite a process using different rouges. What's the safest way of cleaning them down the road, and not affect the final phase of the buffing? I've heard glass cleaner like Windex does it, but should I be careful and use a product that would be ammonia free or does it matter?

Yes, ammonia based window cleaner such as Windex is fine.

Also 409, or a "Multi Purpose" spray and wipe type of cleaner is fine too. However, DONT squirt down the machine and then wipe.

Spray the product on your cloth FIRST,,THEN wipe.

Also, be sure to use a non linty type of cloth.

Paper towels are OK, but make sure they dont leave lint behind.

I prefer to use old table cloth LINEN cut up into rags.

Linen is completly lint free.

Try Glass Plus! Leaves a REALLY nice shine!

Thanks everybody! Think I'll try a microfiber cloth and Glass Plus, that's sounds good to me! I love those cloths for just about everything.

Microfiber cloths work great for general polishing, with or without any kind of solvent. Keeping your Kirby clean and free of fingerprints will help protect the finish, but you'll still want to polish your machine at least twice a year with Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish or Flitz to keep the metal shiny and tarnish free.

When

using Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish and Billet, or Flitz, even the softest paper towels can scratch the finish, or leave very fine, dulling scratches. Use the mentioned polishes with microfiber cloths by mother's or Flitz and you get really satisfying results.
