what do you guys think of the new platinum? I got mine delivered this week, and al I can say is WOW! What a great machine. You can't even hear it running. All you hear is the rush of the air through the machine, Really picks up great. But I can't tell how well it grooms the carpet because I have Berber carpet through out the house not plush.. Now the only things I have found out about the machine that I don't like is when you pull the machine by the hose sometimes the hose comes out of the machine. And the thing I don't like the most about the machine is as long as the machine is plugged in and the hose and power nozzle are connected to the machine the power nozzle does not shut off when you turn the machine off.But it will shut off with the switch on the Hose Handle. which wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't leave the vacuum unattended like I did. My dogs some how bumped the hose handle switch while it was laying on the floor and it turned on and I don't know how long it ran but it was running when I came home and it wore a hole in the Berber carpet from the stiff brushes I guess. So I read the instructions and they said you can turn the power nozzle on even though the machine is turned off. Oh well at least I can say WOW what a great machine. I will probably not ever use my old white and blue Gaurdian ever again. I guess I must be crazy, I am in love with this vacuum. Also the charcoal filter in the machine works so well I put some Electrolux clean sweep chips in the bag like I do in all of my luxes when I change the bag and you can't smell that nice smell coming out of the vacuum like you can with all of my other Electroluxes. So I guess the only thing Aerus should change is not letting the Power Nozzle turn on unless the machine is on.. So what do you guys think about the new Aerus Lux Gaurdian Platinum??? And if you don't have one I suggest you should do anything you can to get one And buy it from Brian (Funeral Director) you will be glad you did... Dan

I have tried one and I like it, although not convinced to sell my Guardian Upright and jump for something else just yet.... waiting to move this spring and see what my new place's floors are like. In terms of the on/off brush roll switch, I don't recall, but I think it does that with the motor off. Its not huge issue, but nonetheless could have been better though out and designed. I feel they may have rushed this unit out to market too quick to compete with the other well known top end brands. Also, being partially made and designed in Europe makes me wonder if the US made hoses, wands and power nozzle are really meant for the unit. I think the Lux in Europe comes with different hoses and parts. Its still a solid machine by any count, and a step forward, but I still wonder about their other models, especially the upright that could use an update.

Wow thermokid, sounds like you really love it. I do believe funderaldirector said that Aerus had released a software fix to stop it from running. But if it's in the instruction manual it seems they meant it that way. The machine wasn't rushed though, Aerus and Lux worked on it for 6 years. The Ultra was a stopgap I guess. They tried to avoid the problems of the past when they brought out the Renaissance. Lux international uses the braided hose which I don't really want. I think the hose Aerus is using looks far more modern and sturdy. I had wondered if that hose might be a problem because of the push in/pull out technology. If it's easy to pull out, it might backfire and be a problem during usage. I think I will wait a while to see what updates will be coming. Aerus has new power nozzle under development so it might all be a moot point eventually. Aerus patented the double HEPA system so nobody will be copying it directly for 20 years. Filtration is very important to me so I will be buying it down the road.

The machine wasn't rushed though, Aerus and Lux worked o

I stand corrected then, what I should have said is that maybe they should have did a quality control testing and looked this issue over before boxing them off. Why the power nozzle would still go when the entire motor is off is beyond me.

I'm sorry GM1982, I didn't mean to "correct" you. I think I understand what you meant, and I believe there will be bugs with it since it's such a radical machine. That's why I will wait a bit. LOL

I would be scared to leave a plugged in vacuum laying on the floor with pets, they might chew the cord or hose and get a shock. Also, my luck, I'd find my hose ripped by thier claws and teeth!

I LOVE IT !!!

Yes I ove my new Platinum. Other then the two things I pointed out above, it is a Terrific machine.. And my Girls wouldn't chew on or hurt one of my Vacuums they know they would be dead if they did... LOL Dan

Are these software fixes

something a user can do by hooking up via wifi or an ethernet connection? Is is something you have to have them do in the store? Does it cost you? Just curious to see vacuum companies doing software upgrades. Interesting and a good things.

I'm sorry guys, I thought that funeraldirector said something was available to stop that. It might have been someone else or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. read the other big long thread about kirbyloverdan's Platinum, that's where I thought I read that.
