Aerus/ Electrolux Lux 4000

Hey, I have a question about an Aerus/ electrolux Lux 4000. This model is from the year 2000 and I was gifted one from my local vac shop (always support local, don't buy online!) not knowing what the problem with the vac was. When i got it home, it was missing a hose but that doesnt affect electricals. The whole bottom cleaner head of the unit has lost all electrical power. I have no idea what all these sensors and switches do on it so i have taken out the wiring harness and took a photo and that will be below all this text. I rewired the bottom because the little circuit board with warning lights was rusted and the contacts weren't touching. If you have any tips or any solutions to help my almost vintage vac run, that would be so so so helpful : ).

You should put the wiring back in. Never do that again.
Test one connection to the next. Get k meter aka voltage meter. From one connection to the next place one on one wire one on next series. One of the two wires example
1 3
2 4
Put tester on 1 then the other tester on 3. If you get zero try it on 4. It's going to have a reading on one of the wires. If 1 & 4 get a reading then 2 & 4 should be similar.
You continue to do this through entire wiring. If you get where 1 doesn't get a reading out of 3&4 and 2 doesn't get anything either. You have found a short. If you found a short start at the other end doing same tests.

The whole point is finding continuity which is a positive reading. It may lead back to same wires on back to front test. In this case either the wires are bad or connection is backwards etc.

Do I have to plug in the cleaner while doing this? Just finished polishing it and am very excited to see it together again

If you're testing for voltage then yes, the cleaner does need to be plugged in. If you're testing for continuity, then no, keep the cleaner unplugged.

Don't plug it in. The tests work without it plugged in.
I did have an Electrolux 9000 for a couple days. I got a free Hoover wind tunnel and my employee didn't have a working vacuum. I gave it to her I got the lux. I had to use a power sprayer to get the buildup that left maybe a 1/2" hole in the hose to suck things up.
It was not pretty. I wasn't familiar with Electrolux vacuums . It had impressive power after I cleaned it up. I fixed it and knowing how it was I could not keep it. I got it running like new and donated it to the thrift store.
I do know wiring is finicy. I spray off and clean vacuums with water. I do know to let air dry for a day or so. If you get errors let it dry longer.
I hope you get it fixed. The trouble will be worth it their beasts.
