can I upgrade to a two-stage motor? I'm not too fond of single stage motor

Also how do I rewire the PN receptacle so the PN doesn't stay on when the vac is turned off

The bag & exhaust filter smell like stinky feet so I threw the bag & filter away because they were petrified too

I don't know the answer to the first question but if you can find a two-stage motor that will physically fit into the shell, I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.

As far as the power nozzle is concerned, you probably have a couple of wires reversed coming off the cord winder. I had a similar situation with my Silverado last year when I reconnected some wires and ended up reversing two. In that case, the power nozzle would run when the vacuum was shut off but when the vacuum was running, the power nozzle would shut off. That was when I learned to photograph things with my phone before taking them apart.

You need to know what type of motor is in the machine. I'm going to take a guess it's a 5.7" motor that is/was in c9 compact, filter queen 360,I think it's a 7.5 amp motor. It probably pulls 100-110 CFM.
If I assumed correctly ametek lamb site. There is a 2 stage from red tristar, proteam and a few others. If you can find the 2 stage motor that proteam uses puts out 150 CFM I'm not sure on the amps but between 9-12.
People are going to pop up saying don't modify it. It's not made for that motor etc.
Once you find the motor get it off eBay it's slot cheaper.

Power nozzle

It's not connected to the switch.
Follow it to where all the wire nuts are.
Motor black white
Cord black white
Switch black white
Pn black white (you can flip them if from black to white.
I don't recall exact wiring. But if you look up compact wiring dysonman tells how to wire it with three connectors.

That looks like the VM3 motor. Hope I said this correctly. This already has more power than the previous models. I know some of those came with the dri-lux (similar to the capture carpet cleaning system) that's why the PN stayed on when the canister switch was turned off. To run the dri-lux PN. Those were sold with two PNs. The normal power nozzle and the dri-lux.

The vacuum is not wired wrong. It was designed that way. I had one myself a couple of years ago.

If the power to the power nozzle is straight wired from the machine, that explains why they put an on/off switch on the power nozzle, although I would think it more convenient to have a switch on the hose handle like some aftermarket ones do. My Diamond J came with that type of hose and I find it very convenient to be able to instantly turn the power nozzle off if it catches something it shouldn't. My Diplomat LX has switches both on the aftermarket hose and the power nozzle. The first time I tried it out, it was very confusing getting all the switches turned on to fire up the power nozzle.

Don’t know the difference

I don’t know what the difference between a single stage and two stage motor is. Could someone explain? Since I like US older Electrolux and Aerus and they are changing the motors I guess I should know what all this means, I understand how a motor works to a degree but don’t know about “stages”.

One would think two fans would be better than one as the motor would runaway a lower rpm.

Fans and vacuum power

It seems like the more stages you have the higher the suction (waterlift) you get but you often do sacrifice airflow. When you have multiple fans you typically have a stationary layer between the fans which makes it's airpath a little more complex.

Going back to the original topic at hand. I'm not entirely sure here but I think you may need to swap the plastic motor casing to accomplish this. Older plastic bodied machines like the 2100 and 6500 did both use dual stage motors. I don't think the outer body has changed but it would be logical to assume that they changed the motor casing to fill in the the space created by the shorter fan case.

If you watch this video you'll see the inside of the 6500 which used a dual stage.

I cleaned & reassembled the vac but the 'Power' indicator lite & PN aren't working; but at least the vac still turns ON & OFF like normal

I don't know if I got a electrified hose with bad electrical current/no current? Its a used genuine Electrolux coiled vinyl hose; but the machine end coupling's seal is warped. Other than those 3 issues everything else works great

I'm using V A C HEPA bags but no exhaust filter because I am waiting for the filters & dusting brush bristle inserts to arrive (the small combo tool's bristles have 'thinned out' but rubber 'donut' still intact
