Aerus carbon prefilters

Hi all.

I apologize if this has been discussed before.
I couldn't find a thread on the subject.

On the Aerus online store, they sell a two-pack of carbon prefilters.
I'll state what, to all of you, would be the obvious.
They would go in the bag compartment, making them "after bag" filters.

The website states that they can be used on any Aerus or Electrolux vacuum which uses Style C bags.
It says that the filters will help reduce odors coming from the exhaust.
I always use Clean Sweep chips in a new bag.
I wonder if these would cancel out the scent from the chips.
That would not make me happy.

I'm just wondering if any of you have used these filters, or if you see any advantage to using them.

Also, I've read things about certain types of Style C bags being too restrictive of airflow, and causing the motor to run too hot.
Do you think these filters might also contribute to that?

I currently use the genuine Electrolux, Aerus, Home Solutions, Germ Grabber, etc bags exclusively.

Not that I'm some kind of bag snob, I just like using genuine stuff; whether it's for the vacuums, the car, etc.

Hi Barry! I've never used the Filter with Scent chips, but it does a nice job keeping the Dusty Scent and fine dirt away! Make sure you do NOT use the Blue Aerus bags, they are cheaply made and usually rip. I like Envirocare HEPA or Paper bags. The Perfect bag is good too, just doesn't fit perfectly in the canister.

You know, I don't know if we've just been lucky or what.
But both myself, and my mom, (who got me started on the whole Electrolux thing), have been using the blue, Home Solutions/Aerus bags since they became the current "genuine" bag.
Neither of us have ever had one rip or break.
Maybe that would be more inclined to happen if you wait for the automatic "bag full" shut-off?
I have never waited for the machine to tell me the bag is full. I just check it regularly.
I think I have some tan colored bags that I got with a vacuum purchase or something.
They might be Multi Filter brand, but I wouldn't want to swear to that.
I was always afraid that an unknown brand might be subpar, so I always stayed with whatever was currently available through the dealer.
Although, since I discovered eBay, I haven't actually bought them from the Aerus store.

Bags

I have been using synthetic HEPA bags from evacuumstore.com. They have these HEPA bags to fit the Type C, Type U (upright)and Type R. I have given up on paper bags in all my vacuums. The synthetic type bags filter far better than paper, breath better (aka air flows much easier then through paper). I gave up on the genuine Aerus blue bags when I discovered that one had burst after only one use. I don't know why Aerus Lux still sell those rubbish paper bags when synthetic is not only far better performing bags but also let the motor run easier. Yeah, I'm DONE with paper vacuum bags.
