So I have been looking around at the Aerus Canister vacuums, and I am highly interested, but when I went on eBay they were very expensive starting around $375 and only going higher for recent models. How much does an Aerus canister start at on the low end of the price tag scale new? Any recommendations on these machines, thoughts, or advice?

The low end Aerus canister is the Lux Classic. If I'm not mistaken they are close to $800, and the TOP canister is the Guardian Platinum and it can range anywhere from $1600 to $2000, just depending on the location you're in. There was a previous thread regarding the platinum and I was shocked to see the price range on them. Now with that said, buying one from eBay and places like that is rather risky as Aerus does not allow their new products to be sold by internet, so you won't be getting their warranty. Personally, I would hate to plunk down that kind of change and not have a good warranty to back it! Good luck with your purchase, I think you will be very pleased with their products!!

Well that's good to know. Not ready to purchase just yet, but I am highly interested and doing my research

They are good machines, a bit expensive, but they come with some of the longest warranties available for a vacuum cleaner. I have the Guardian Upright, I like it, my only complaint is the tools are separate. The canisters are more versatile for different cleaning needs. There are other brands that do the same and cost less and still high quality. You may want to compare them to a Riccar or Miele canister vacuum.

How is the filtration on the lower end Aerus machines? I did look at the Riccar canisters as well.

The filtration is pretty good on them. That said, I'm generally more a fan of Riccar - the modern Aerus canisters aren't, in my opinion, as durable as the older ones. As such, I don't think they're worth the premium currently being charged. Also, Riccar/Simplicity canisters have some of the best carpet cleaning in the business.

I will agree with the post above... overpriced, be sure to negotiate if you want to buy one. Aerus operates like car salesman. Their sales model/method needs to change if they want to compete in the current consumer market. Riccar and Miele still outsells.

When you are ready I can give you the email and phone number of the aerus dealer in Orlando. He will give you a decent price below prices mentioned here with full Aerus/Electrolux warranty. There are a couple people on here that ordered through him and were really happy. Email or pm me if you want to check out his prices ..
Just to clarify I get absolutely nothing for referring any one to them.
