Aeg Vampyr - information wanted!

Hi VL

As he title says, I would like some information of the AEG Vamyr range of vacuums. This vacuum is my most earliest memory as we had one which I helped push it around. There is the exact same colour one of ours on eBay except it is tto far away from me. Can anyone possibly tell me about this range. I no longer have it

A sudden flashback of this machine came when I was watching 2point4 Children, where they had one, and it spurred me on to search for one on eBay.

Forgot, I know that they were internally the same as the Electrolux Tango series

Hello there. I am not sure where you are getting the comparison for the AEG from. It was only the very latest style of AEG which has been designed like the Electrolux Tango. That would have been the later Tango too, as the original was a take on the 1600 Microlite series and looked nothing like the second version of the Tango. The AEG Vampyer was a design in its own right. I think production ceased inthe mid 1990's.

Was it the thread I asked about the variable power logos on my Tango you got the information ?

If so, when it was said that it was the same as an AEG, that was the latest model of Tango.

Previous to that I don't believe there was a relation between the two.

Yes it was, I didnt know beforehand either. Except I knew that Electrolux owns AEG group.

Indeed, which is why the Tango Z5001 is made in Germany and to a very high standard for the times.

Yes but the Vampyr range wasn't just another Electrolux cylinder vac. I can recall in the mid 1980s that a friend of mine had an AEG Vampyr stick vacuum - very heavy and quite bulky to use - made in the same way as the Miele S100 stick vacuums. I don't recall Electrolux doing that many equivalent stick vacs with their own name in the UK around that time - -apart from the horrid Superbroom lightweight (I had one, it was awful thus my justification for saying it was horrid). I think AEG just used the Vampyr name on a lot of their models and then sat product model numbers next to the name, not just to differentiate the different cylinder vacs but also the stick vacuum models too.

Hello, though I don't own an Aeg vampyr I have some brochures from the eighties to about mid nineties, I should be able to locate and scan them so you can have an idea of the whole range in Italy / Europe.Regards, tommy

Rob : Sorry about that, dont check the vintage forum much as I thought the Vampyr was Contempary as I didn't know of any pre - 90's models.
