Electrolux Contour = AEG?

I think, and I hope someone can correct me if I am wrong, but this AEG is a Contour underneath. I am not too sure on this theory, but around the same time Electrolux made washing machines for AEG, so would this work with vacuums too?

Hi Jacob,

You're almost right. AEG is part of the Electrolux group and these are absolutely made by Electrolux. These uprights were a hybrid between a Contour, a Glider and a 600. They had a Contour motor, Glider hood and chasis and a Glider bag/filter set up.

Cheers Chris.

I knew about the ownership of AEG in the Electrolux Group.

So would that mean that the AEG Vampyr's from the early 90's have similarities to the Electrolux Cylinder's of the same era?

were parts used similar, despite the difference in country

Well that certainly became the case for the washing machines. From about the early 2000's, AEG's became just beefed-up Zanussi's.

The AEG name disappeared from vacuums around the late 90's. Electrolux has since resurected the brand name for their vacuums, but sadly they are no longer producing Electrolux branded machines in the UK - the high end will be AEG and the low end will be Zanussi branded.
