Advice on Firing Up an Old Kirby, Please?

I just ordered a Classic III that has been in storage for untold years, and looks it.
It doesn't appear terribly worn in the photos, but the oxidation looks like I'm in for a challenge.
Are there any precautionary details I should address before running it, such as oiling any particular parts or bearings, or anything like that?
I ask because I collect old sewing machines and I know you're supposed to add fresh machine oil to several particular spots before running any machine that has sat unused for 6 months or more.

The Kirby motor uses sealed ball bearings and will not need oil. Check belt tension and replace if necessary. Make sure brush length has been adjusted so brushes penetrate into rug. Clean and renovate the cloth bag so the airflow is unimpeded.
