I was trying to throw out some packs of teriyaki sauce last night, and while doing so, they exploded all over my kitchen floor!

So I have mopped the floor a few times with the Swiffer Wet Jet, and it got worse. The entire floor became sticky! So, any suggestions on how to get teriyaki sauce off a kitchen floor? Or should I seek out a Swiffer alternative?

Below is a pic of my kitchen floor. Sorry about the lighting; it was 10:29 in the morning when I took the picture.

swiffer is not the answer, will spread it around! Need rags or mop and some soap for this purpose and maybe a vinegar/ water rinse, wring out the rag/ mop often, yes hands and knees. Dawn would work, as well as spic and span or mr clean.

IM not sure what a Swiffer Jet is, but if it is what I think it might be ,i.e dry replaceable pad with a spray solution going through it, no wonder your floor is still sticky.

The floor needs a good hot cloth going over it, preferably damp with soapy solution. You don't need specific premium priced cleaning agents either; just a drop of dishwashing liquid in a bucket and a decent wet mop to go over the floor. Another alternative is washing up powder but only a teaspoon of it as it is very slippy added to water. Infact either agents should be used sporadically As above you'll need fresh water to rinse the floor off.

Or when I spill sauce on a floor, I spray vinegar around and take my steam mop to the task. No need to rinse, just walk away and let the floor air dry.

I think I'll have to scrub the floor Cinderella-style, using hot water, dish soap and rags.

Sebo_fan, to clarify, a Swiffer Wet Jet is a mop which utilizes Wet Jet brand cleaner in a proprietary bottle which can't be opened. It also uses dry disposable pads. To operate it, you press a button to spray solution on your floor, mop back and forth and throw away the pad when it gets too dirty.

The Wet Jet cleaner works well, dries fast and has a pleasant smell. The pads enable that quick drying time. It's nice to not have to deal with a wet floor for very long.

The Swiffer Wet Jet is nice and convenient; however, it isn't perfect. You have to keep buying cleaning solution and pad refills, which gets expensive over time. It can't be used with any other cleaner besides its own, due to a special seal that can't be unscrewed. The Swiffer also runs on 4 AA batteries which are not included, and must be replaced when the spray mechanism stops working.

Actually, the last I knew, the Swiffer Wetjet bottles *could* be opened and refilled with some effort. I cleaned for an elderly lady that had one and one time she bought a refill bottle in some scent (not sure which one, but it was incredibly strong, almost gagging) and she complained how bad it was, and I hated it as well. I opened up the bottle, poured half of it down the sink, then refilled with clear water. Worked fine. Much less scent and still seemed to clean just fine. You can also just use a cotton cloth in place of the disposable pad. If you're going to do that though, the Rubbermaid Reveal mop is a better choice- removable and washable microfiber pads, use your own cleaning solution, and no batteries.. Has a hand pumped sprayer. They do work well, same idea as the Swiffer but better design.
