Picked up a Diamond Edition Kirby off Craigslist last week. Paid too much for it but oh well. It was clear this this poor vacuum had been used and abused! It was filthy. Wheels were worn out, handle spring broken, bag torn, drive pedal worn out, belt lifter loose, etc etc. He said they bought it new; Clearly it was never serviced.
I spent the last couple nights disassembling and replacing parts from an Ultimate G donor machine. SwitchEd out the Tech drive, several cosmetic parts, replaced the fan, and polished the aluminum.
This was my first time attempting polishing badly tarnished aluminum. I started with 1000 grit wet sanding, them 1500, 2000, and 2500. Then 2 coats of Mother's. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!
Happy to add the Diamond Edition with the 2-speed motor to my collection!
