I got a hold of a Pow-R-Vac today. Model 2020 and made by Walton Products Inc. It's dirty and has some rust but does work. Does anyone know anything about these? I did find the trademark information. Registered in 1970, expired in 1992 and first used in 1968. I really haven't been able to find anything online and probably will sell it if it's worth anything, maybe put it on ebay. I have more pictures if anyone is interested. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks VW.

My dad asked me if I was gonna ride it around the living room! haha

I could only find one other reference to a vacuum like this, it may have been on this forum but I don't recall for sure. It seems like it is an early model shop vac actually. It says something on it to the effect of "For cars, shops, garages, homes..." My buddy was gonna scrap it but I thought there might be some collectors out there who might want it. I'm not one to throw stuff away very easily. I probably get that from my grandfather. I'm only 26 so this thing is before my time!

So basically, your only purpose for joining the forum was to pawn off your Pow-R-Vac for top dollar to a collector? Sad....

Ohio_Tuec- Or I could have let it go to the scrap yard which is where it was headed before I grabbed it. I thought it might be something special and would hate to see it be gone forever. If it's not anything special or a collectors item, I'll scrap it.

I also asked if anyone had any info on it. Why? Because I am curious as well. Old items interest me a great deal and I have many antiquities. I am also sorry I am struggling for money and am trying to support my family. So if I can sell this to someone that will enjoy it more than me, can refurb it and give it a better home than I can then that would be a good thing right?

Thanks for being a lot of help and thinking you know all of what's going on. Maybe had you been more accommodating I would spend more time learning about these old vacuums and maybe collect them myself. Thanks.

You put absolutely NO information in your profile page which leads me to believe your purpose for being here is bogus. I am sorry for you and your family's misfortune. I too am struggling in these difficult economic times....

Karl- I think you need to calm down a little here, the person was interested in some Info about the machine, and possibly wants to sell it. we are all about vacuums in this forum and this post was about a vacuum, not about someones profile and purpose being Bogus. from reading all he is pretty much asking is if the vacuum is worth anything, if anyone would want it, and if it is worth something, and what is it worth?

not trying to argue here but I am tired of people attacking each other.

Alright Mike, then I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think the forum should be for those who really LOVE and ENJOY the hobby, not for passerbys simply trying to find out what they can GET for a vacuum they salvaged. Just because a vacuum is old doesn't mean it's worth a fortune. Guaranteed this guy isn't gonna be back to post unless it's about this vacuum or another one he has to sell. I hate to see this forum exploited in such fashion. Just my two cents.

Karl, back off, you're out of line here....

There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with what 'chevysoldier' has done here. All he has done is ask for some information, thinking he may have something us collectors might be interested in, & offer it for sale. If anything, he has done us a favor by NOT going to Ebay first....

And he also says, "Old items interest me a great deal and I have many antiquities". So, who are you to say he doesn't have an interest in collecting old vacuums?? Pretty presumptuous on your part....the fact he thought to rescue the Pow-R-Vac shows right there he at least has SOME interest in our hobby.

Maybe instead of criticizing, you should be grateful he even thought of approaching us & taking the effort to join the club. After all, had this been a 'dream machine' you had been looking for, I highly doubt you would have said the things you have here. And, I don't see you criticizing 'ryanm' for his Tristar post about his powerhead, yet in your way of thinking he could also be viewed as 'bogus'.

Like Mike said above, we don't need any more people attacking others....it's getting old.

Thanks Rob and Mike. It's interesting that I have gotten some people, in this thread and in my email, who say I should hold on to it. That maybe I might enjoy it or get into this area of collecting. But you Karl, coming at me with that sort of attitude turns me off. I would like to have seen had it been something you wanted so badly. I'm sure your attitude would have changed. Should I end up collecting these I might find another forum that greets new people more warmly. If I was less of a person I might also be apt to spread my experiences with those I know about the reception I got here. Although the rest of the people here seem to have helped to rectify my first impression so I consider you just a bad apple. Every forum has them and I guess you might be the one here? And for what it's worth I've had numerous people tell me the same thing about you.

Who knows maybe this is the first to my collection because we all have to start somewhere.

chevysoldier, I would keep the Pow-R-Vac....

It does look to be rare, and the outside does look to be in great shape. And don't worry, there are lots of nice people on here, at least that's been my experience. So stick around for a little while...

BTW, there are also a couple of forums on Facebook, one called Classic Vacuum Cleaners, and another called vintage-vintage-vintage vacuums, so if you're on Facebook, message me on there & I will see if we can add you in, as I am on both these forums as well. Just use my email listed in my profile to find me on Facebook.

Personally, I'd love to have it for myself, it's just so funny looking, I'd just have it for the comedic value, it's like a little oil drum on "little red wagon" wheels... :D

Just can't afford the shipping on such a thing though, you guys over there get all the best vacuum cleaners... :(

Just in case anyone wonders where I have been, even though I wasnt on here much anyway. This kind of thing is the reason I have stopped posting on here. I was thrilled a while back when I found this site. I have been into vacuums since I was a year and a half old and have been collecting since I was a teen. The more I read on here, the more I backed away. I still check in from time to time to see if there is a thread that interests me, and I like to look at the pics. Thats about it. I have joined the facebook group and havent seen this kind of problem. I dont really know anyone on here, and no one has done anything to me personally, but life has enough drama without having to read it for no reason on a vacuum site. I do not mean this directly to any person, but I dont understand why some people seem to be able to find something to complain about or insult people about, no matter what. We are vacuum collectors, not the FBI. I dont mean to offend anyone in particular, but this is why I havent been posting, along with a few other reasons I wont mention. I am disappointed too, because I love vacs.

Chris, sometimes that behavior is expected of certain people. Its nice when people meet our expectations, though.
