Have you found any hand vacs in Google Patents where they have suction going through the handle and are assembled in two halves?

YES!

This is the Polar Cub: https://patents.google.com/patent/US1792975

This is the earliest O.K. Whisk with the wood handle: https://patents.google.com/patent/US1506231

This is designed by E.W. Vose, I *think* they made this into the Day-Fan: https://patents.google.com/patent/US1797455

Also, if you want, I found the patents for the elusive Polar Cub upright: https://www.freepatentsonline.com/1918695.html
The other I can't find online again, only in my files. Us Patent 1,832,457

And here is a cool stick vac that James Kirby designed in 1910: https://patents.google.com/patent/US1156235

Oh cool, sadly none of those will help me, but that is really cool to see these schematics. Can only imagine how many hours they stayed up by candlelight inventing those things, and just trying out whatever things stuck in their mind.
