And here is the result,

I guess it was inevitable that I go with a tan treatment. I had this brand new replacement belt lifter sitting in a box, wanting to be used.

WOW,,i love it, That is really cool,,an ALL tan 519! Excellent job!
I sent a 560 in for a Factory Rebuild a couple of years ago, and it came back all Tan just like yours, except for the belt lifter,,they didnt do ANYTHING to it at all,,which i was kinda bent about at first,,but the red Kirby Logo with sunburst background does look kinda cool with the all Tan 560. My only gripe with the 500 series is the handle bale,,its too much like a broomstick. Like a broomstick with a big motor stuck at the end.
I find it hard to turn the Kirby with such a thin, flimsy handle, so i put a Heritage 1 handle bale and grip on it. Which i know makes it a franken Kirby, but at least i feel like i have better control of the machine. Gave it to a close friend that built a large house with wall to wall carpet, for an upstairs vac. He has a Classic Omega that i gave him for the downstairs. Put 4 row brush rolls on both machines, and a Heritage 2 Emptor, bag and coupler to take G Series bags, so i made sure he had good vacuums for all of that carpet. Had to teach him how to change the belts, and bags, and how to use the hose and attachments (he's completly oblivious to vacuums)so he is good to go.

Wow, nice work.

Bill, I think that the 500/Sanitronic series looks good in any color trim, as long as the metal is polished to a mirror finish.
Very nice.

Color Question

I have wondered about these different colors -- was that belt lifter made for a particular machine or to update older ones? I've seen blue treatments, but what other colors are there?

A good friend!

Sent her 1966 Dual 50 to Kirby about 10 years ago and man did it look good! I dont think it looked that good new, I have heard as mentioned above, that they have slacked off on there restoration quality, shame!

This is a beautiful restoration. Besides red, tan is my next favorite trim color for old Kirbys . I have been fascinated with the Kirby since as long as I can remember and I am now 51.
My parents bought this same model around fifty or so years ago. Now I have it ;but of course it has seen better decades. It is very well used and does not even look like it originally did.Approximately 10 years ago I had purchased a 519 on e-Bay ,polished it as best I could and had some work on the motor and very little has gone wrong with it since then. This vacuum is my bi-weekly driver and I retofitted it with the Heritage II bag assembly since it is more efficient to empty. I say that because I also own an HII .
I would never have any plastic made chintzy vacuum in my home. I just beleive that Kirby has so much more to offer> There are alot of people who don't feel that way.

It is hard to beat a Kirby. The engineering is simple and straightforward, making them simple to repair. Along with Electrolux and a few brands, Kirby will outlast and out clean just about anything on the market.
