I just got a Bissell “spin wave” floor scrubber. It was $12 at Goodwill. It is missing the solution tank and pads but I was able to order them from evacuumstore.com for a reasonable price. I like how quiet this machine is. Looking forward to trying it out because I LOATHE mopping. I have steamers…three of them and a sponge mop and one of those microfiber pad squirt mops….all of which I rarely use because I just find it boring and they leave streaks on my hardwoods.
With this being motorized and it doing the harder work than just my pushing any of the other mop style across the floor…I’m hoping this one might be “fun to use” and bring “housecleaning pleasure” to the task of mopping the floors.
I’m away from home at the moment but the tank and pads have arrived and when I get home I’ll be trying it all out.
This thing reminds me of the old Hoover or Regina floor scrubbers…but with pads instead of brushes. It also runs substantially slower compared to those. One of my favorite high school jobs was cleaning for one of my paper route customers…I used to wash her kitchen floor and used her pink Hoover floor scrubber to loosen the dirt on her no wax floor. That was back in the 80’s. When she passed away in 2014 her daughter asked if I could help get the house ready for the post memorial service gathering and I said yes and cleaned the house with the Electrolux model L she still had and scrubbed the floor with the pink Hoover scrubber…both likely hadn’t been used much if at all since I left the state in 1993. Anyway..I just loved that Hoover pink scrubber and this Bissell cross wave makes me feel like it’s a modern day application of a vintage appliance.
I was able to download the manual so I can follow the instructions. This one I got is NOT the battery powered one which is fine by me as I prefer the reliability of the corded appliances. Just hoping the pump system isn’t clogged.
Anyone have any experience with these Bissell cross waves?
