I stopped in our local Oreck Store today to check out the new models, and the guy that was working brought me in the back and showed me these two Orecks and told me I could take them! I've noticed that it is usually the Oreck Stores that give up trade-ins for free, at least in my case. Whenever I go to one, I mention that I collect vacuums and they almost always have something! It really is generous. The first is a model 2600. It is the all gray one. There is barely any scratches on it, and in amazing condition, but unfortunately it does not run. I just won't turn on. The cord was all taped up, so I replaced it, and that did nothing. So I plugged it the cord that runs from the base to the handle into another Oreck, and still, nothing. So either the wiring in the motor is screwed up, or the motor is just dead. But I will be fixing this one up.
The next one is a dream Oreck of mine! I have been looking for one of these cheap for a long time, because it is probably the sexiest Oreck that I have ever seen. You have the half cloth-half vinyl bag in a cool design, with the gold trim, and the '40th Anniversary Edition'. Accompanied by the newer style headlight! It just looks great together. This one is a model 3900. This one just needed a bag and a belt. The motor does make a weird noise when you turn it on and off, but when you are running it, it sounds fine. Eventually I'll replace the motor though.
A lot of people don't like Orecks, but I love them. I find them to be the most user friendly and easiest to repair vacuum out there. But that is just my opinion.
Though I'd share!
