Here is my friend Michaels Hoover junior model 1346, that we restored last Saturday, I did the dating correctly I would like to think.
According to the first few numbers of the serial number it says "U1346110" so to me that would indicate that this model is from October 1971, now I was lead to believe that the Juniors were launched in 1970? Is that correct? Now the early 1346 models did not have the four "height right controls" instead the earlier ones has a two position lever? on the underside of the cleaner. Would anyone know if this junior is actually from 1971?

Hello Alex. I think I may be reading your post incorrectly, or you are confusing different models and features. As I remember it, the 1346 dates to the late 1960s and was originally a sort of sandy colour and brown, with an orange front cover on earliest models. The colour matched that of the suitcase cleaner and convertible on sale at the same time. This was the model which had two settings, like the older 1334 cleaner. I may be wrong but I thought the cleaner in your picture would always have had the four position height control. This is unlike the 1354 dirtsearcher which was always white and pale blue from start to end, and early examples of these can be found with the two position 1334 type height adjuster.

the junior

there have been many variations of the junior but the first of this type came out in 1959 i think it was white and rose coloured all metal body height ajustment underneath metal front plate with the hoover logo inthe middle it had the old type bag clip that slid of the top of the bag even though ti had paper bags also the switch was on the outside of the machine not on the body like later ones my mum had the second variation the same machine but in grey and white with a zip bag switch now in the body of the machine even had a molded 2 pin plug and a converter so it would plug into the light socket the tools came as standard and the machine came in a small box it had to be asmembled before its use . At the tender age of 6 i pushed it top stair causing it to pull the landing ceiling rose of the ceiling my dad was not happy when he came in from work i still have the machine
