Saw that one on ebay
You might need to get the spring for the cordwinder, they are replaceable, don’t need a whole new back end.
Did this come with a power nozzle or other attachments? The normally included attachments are the hose, 2 metal wands, elbow and flip over rug and floor tool, combination upholstery tool/dusting brush and a crevice tool. Power nozzle was optional. There are two options for getting the electrics out to the power nozzle...an external hose wire wrap that goes on the non electric hose or a fully electric hose with a short pigtail wire on the machine end to plug into the port. The pigtail hoses are apparently no longer made so getting one is a feat in itself so I just recommend getting a hose with the external wire wrap or a generic pigtail hose. The woven braided hoses tend to fail internally so don’t recommend wasting money on those as if it hasn’t already started leaking it will be bound to soon with use. The rubber or plastic hoses don’t have the issue and last far longer.
You can use any standard 1 1/4 vacuum cleaner attachments with an Electrolux such as Kenmore, Eureka, Hoover attachments and the like...but personally I prefer the genuine Electrolux attachments myself because the two main ones are flip type 2 in 1 attachments that make cleaning easier and faster and they do a pretty good job.
For top performance a more modern L shaped Electrolux power nozzle is recommended for carpet as you will be getting the latest in design from Aerus/Electrolux with one of these types and the best results. You’ll need the electric wand as well. Though if you prefer to be period correct, a cream colored arrow shaped covered Electrolux power nozzle with blue bumper wrap is the correct vintage for this machine, but any two wire Electrolux power nozzle will work provided the power nozzle has the external wire coming from it and is not the direct plug in at the suction neck as that one is for a different plastic wand system.
If you need information on how the automatic dial works and should be set, please reply and I will tell you how it works and how to set it for proper operation. Often people get frustrated because the bag door pops open and the machine shuts off not realizing the machine is supposed to do this to indicate a full bag, the dial controls the sensitivity of this function and should normally be set on 3 or 4 on most model G’s from my experience. If the bag door pops open and the bag is not full enough to change try a higher number, if the suction is cut off due to too much fine dust coating the inside of the bag and the machine is not stopping, a lower number should be used to trigger the check bag system sooner. The dial does not control the suction of the machine at all. It just adjusts how soon or late the bag door pops open due to suction being reduced by the amount of dirt in the bag causing a loss of suction. Your machine constantly monitors the suction before and after the bag
There are lots of genuine bags on eBay as well as the multi filter brand ones which also perform very well...just make sure any bags you buy have 4 ply construction for best performance. Genuine Electrolux and Multi filter brand ones do.
Congratulations on your purchase, you’ve chosen one of the worlds most durable longest lasting canister vacuum cleaners. The model G is among the quietest of Electrolux’s.
