Hello everyone, Hope everything is going great for everyone and happy new years! I spent just over a week visiting with my mom and grandma in Greensboro, North Carolina. I was on craigslist, and found this vacuum. Anyways, the vacuum followed me home back to Rockford. This is my first Universal and I know nothing about it. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. The hose still is air tight as well, it's not perfect but it's in decent shape. Thanks!

Good find.

I have ran across those hassocks at garage sales, flea markets, and goodwill.  I have seen them for Compact & Filterqueen.   They were always empty.

Same problem I encountered-spot one of these hassock vac cases at a yard sale open it to find NOTHING-You ask about the machine-The yard sale person says"Oh That-we threw it out a long time ago!""We thought someone would like the case!"And you would find other tings in these-often "recycled" as toyboxes.

I wish I had known

You were in the neighborhood, im just 45 minutes up the road, I probably would have sent you home with something out of my building, there are over 200 vacuums and im trying to thin the herd..Ifyou were in Greensboro, I hope you got by Stameys barbecue on High Point Road, its really fantastic.

Hi

That model is from about 1948. I have the rebadged Gleneaton version of it which was done for the Eatons Department Stores in Canada.

Thank You!

Thank you everyone for the kind words and the information on the vacuum! I guess I did good, which is great to hear. Kenkart, I have never been to that Barbecue place, I will have to check it out! I plan on going back to North Carolina in the beginning of April, and already can't wait. Mocksville isn't that far from Greensboro, plus I have family in Winston-Salem. That would be amazing to have a piece of someones collection like yours! It would be an honor.
Take care everyone,
-Tyler

Stamey's

I like Stamey's okay but their red vinegar slaw is a recipe for instant heartburn and best avoided. Of the Triad area barbecue restaurants I've sampled since I've lived here, Carter Brothers in High Point is my favorite. Having grown up well east of the Triad, I prefer the eastern style 'cue, particularly Parker's in Greenville. I haven't eaten there since I moved away almost 20 years ago.
