I purchased my 80th anniversary edition G4 in October of 2011 and so far have been very pleased with it. I like some of the features this machine has such as Tech Drive, and the Micron Magic system. Below are the Pros and Cons of the G4.
Pros:
Powerful
Easy to use
Affordable
Durable
Color is cool
Cons:
Could have been sold with some of the extra attachments ie Turbo accessory, Zip Brush etc.
Could have a brighter light builb in it
Not so loud
And that's my 2 cents worth

I know from experience that some Kirby dealers did sell the Zip Brush WITH the G4 and NOT as an add-on. The dealer I worked for in the late '90's did that. I always thought that was fair. When I would 'check-in' the new vacuums as they were delivered I added the Zip Brushes to the box as I recorded the serial numbers and stamped the arrival dates on them.
But, other dealers were charging big bucks for the Zip Brush. As much as $100 I heard. That's WAY TOO MUCH!!!
I remember that sometimes my boss would knock off money if someone did not want any of the attachments. He'd bring back the attachment kits and we would part them out. I think he only did that if someone already had a G-Series vacuum and the new attachments would just be put aside anyway.
