Hi People.

To be honest with the recent talk of kirby updating the Sentria I think it just confirms the new model is going to be released in the not to distant future.

James:-))

What year was the Sentria introduced-I forget at this time-have one-the Kirby Rep from Raleigh called me when it came out-bought one of the first ones in this area.I am wondering if the "new model" is going to be an upgraded Sentria. Will the Kirby rep call me when it comes out?w'ell see.

That would shock me since the Sentria is still pretty "new". I think I would faint if they actually did something different for a change! Of course Kirbys are nice as they are, I don't know what they would do to improve them. Adding more plastic wouldn't be an improvement!

No, actually the Sentria has been around for about 2 years now. And as we all know, Kirby introduces a new model about every 2-3 years. They're gonna have to do something soon. They can only use the Generation body style for so long. I would really like to see them introduce a non-power drive machine again. And maybe a 12-inch head. Sani-emtor, sure, but I doubt they would. It's not sanitary by today's standards. But maybe with this bagless craze, only time will tell....

I hope they don't go bagless or do away with the tech drive... I didn't realize the Sentria was already that old. I've never even put my hands on one. I should have snapped up the one that was on CL for 150 a few months ago!

Good chance the new Kirby may be revealed this spring. Most of the time vac builders introduce their new machines in the Spring or Fall.A few years ago some of the vac shop operators out here thought Kirby was going to introduce a canister machine becuase of the trends to "mixed floors" and hard floors.Kirbys are super for those that have W-W carpets-but not so good for those that have bare floors. If you are a Kirby salesman and run into such a situation you offer the client the Hard Floor kit for the Kirby instead of the shampooer. Also in newer Kirby salesman training they have a demo program just for hard floor prospects.

new vacuums on the way

I know that Aerus Electrolux is coming out with the new line up this spring so I'm sure Kirby will too. They are totally redoing the Guardian and making it look more "vintage". It's suppose to be silver in color too. Can't wait to see them.

Hepa on top of the guardian

I hope if they do come out with one, that they do something with that awful after thought hepa filter on top.....I also hope they go back to the smaller wands. I have had a Reny and a 6500. I actually bought the smaller wands and power nozzle for the 6500.

Filter on top

I do know for a fact that the filter on the top of the guardian is moving to inside the machine. Other then that I'm not sure. They are suppose to be released in the spring.

The Kirby Sentria, as ugly as it is to me, came out in July 2006. I remember distinctly because I got my first G5 right around the time it came out.

Hard floor care & intro date

Kirby has had various products/attachments for the care of hard surface floors since the early 1900's.

(Jim Kirby designs even prior to the "Kirby" name in '35, ie: Scott & Fetzer Sanitation System, etc.)

Unfortunately a lot of offices don't (didn't) teach their representatives much about caring for hard floors, &/or carry the products/attachments!!! (Sadly--mho)

Sentria was available in our area June of 2006.

Have a wonderful weekend all !!!!!!!!!

Bill
