a new battery powered nozzle

Wondering if anyone has seen this, it's sold by Centec Systems, I'm not sure if Centec makes this or another company does. Based on the description I don't think it has a fan like the Volt does but still, it should give any straight suction cleaner better carpet cleaning ability than using a turbo bbrush, I may get one and see how it works.

It's an Electrolux battery power nozzle with no fan in the knuckle. Slower than a regular Lux power nozzle, but Miss Mercy tried it at the VDTA show and really liked it.

Yay! Finally another attempt after Miele’s first try failed. We really do need to see better attempts at a cordless vacuum power nozzle for carpets - without an extra suction fan. Will Dyson or Shark succeed in creating an effective cordless power nozzle for use with any vacuum hose or wand? Will Miele try again? Can Tacony create a less expensive one without the fan? Can we get one with a pair of “swappable” batteries to extend cleaning time?

I ordered one

I went ahead and ordered one. I would love to go to the VDTA show some time, unfortunately I think it takes place early in the year which is our busiest time at work, so getting off work would be difficult. I will be very interested to see how this compares to the Volt. Tacony has now released the second generation of the Volt nozzle which apparently spins twice as fast as the first generation.
Actually Centec was buying most of their nozzles from Panasonic which no longer makes vacuum components. The CT10 is an awesome nozzle for hard floors, apparently once they sell out of those they will be part of vacuum history, that's kind of sad, it cleans hard floors really well and there is no other nozzle similar to it.
I will let everyone know what I think of the new nozzle once I get it.

It's made by the same company that makes the Electrolux clones for Perfect. Not a bad power nozzle overall but just like the volt for example, I prefer corded vacuums better.

When it comes to actual vacuums, I much prefer corded machines as well, cordless vacuums are simply not as powerful as corded ones, there's no getting around it. However in the case of a power nozzle, it has only one purpose, to spin the brush. In the case of the Volt, the fan also provides some extra air flow but this is mainly provided by the suction motor, therefore a cordless nozzle is a practical idea.
It would be very interesting to compare the cleaning ability between the volt and this nozzle, in particular, how much of a difference does the fan in the Volt make to cleaning performance? One advantage this nozzle has is a poly-v belt so in theory the belt should last longer. The Volt uses a flat belt. I also wonder how good the seal is on this nozzle, another issue that the Volt has is that sometimes vacuumed debris ends up remaining inside the nozzle without ever being pulled in to the hose it is connected to.
I think Miele's battery powered nozzle only ran for around 5 minutes, that's a joke.
I wonder if more companies will get in to the battery power nozzle market, I'm not sure how much demand there would be for this, they can definitely give better carpet cleaning ability to straight suction machines. It's actually surprising how only a few backpack vacuums provide the ability to use an electric power nozzle. There is a kit available that allows you to use an electric power nozzle with most backpacks, but a battery powered nozzle is probably more convenient.

The new nozzle workss very well, it will definitely give excellent carpet cleaning ability to a straight suction canister, backpack, or central vacuum with a nonelectric hose. It should also work with the hide-a-hose system although you will need a wand since the nozzle does not have a built in extension handle. It does have some similarities to the power nozzles that are included with the Perfect canister vacuums.
The nozzle has an L shape which helps with cleaning up to the edge, there are two buttons on the top of the nozzle, a rectangular power button that you can reach down and press or you could also press it with your foot, and a small reset button. I'm assuming the nozzle shuts off if the brush becomes jammed but I have not tested this.
The battery pack is rectangular and fits in to a compartment on the top of the nozzle. You will hear the battery click in to place. To release it, press the latch and lift the battery out of the compartment. The charger plugs in to the bbattery itself rather than the nozzle. It is possible to charge the battery while attached to the nozzle as well. In a previous post, Eurekaprince mentioned wanting a nozzle that allowed you to charge one battery while using the nozzle with another one, if you purchase a second battery this nozzle would allow you to do this.
So, which one is better, the Centec nozzle or the Volt? I would say one is not better than the other, each nozzle offers things the other one does not.
The Volt has a built in extension handle so a wand is not needed, it also has a fan which provides extra airflow, it would be interesting to compare these nozzles side by side to see if this makes any difference. The Volt also has a headlight. I think both nozzles spin their brushes at a similar speed but I have no way to test this.
The Centec nozzle has a few things that the Volt does not have. It uses a Poly-v belt rather than a flat belt which should allow the belt to last much longer without requiring replacement. It also appears to be better sealed preventing debris from remaining in the nozzle. The battery can also be changed very easily allowing you to use the nozzle with one battery while charging another one. The Centec nozzle is also cheaper than the Volt. So, when deciding which nozzle to get, you really need to consider what features are most important to you and purchase the nozzle that has those features.

a few other differences

Forgot to mention a couple other differences between the Volt and the Centec battery power nozzle, interestingly, I have not seen any other sites selling this nozzle besides Centec Systems.
The volt's battery has a button that you can press and based on how many leds light up, you can get an idea of how much power is left in the battery. Unless I'm missing something, the Centec power nozzle has no way to check the remaining capacity.
Both nozzles claim a run time of 60 minutes, the charge time for the Volt is slightly higher, about two hours, the Centec nozzle's charge time is 75 minutes.
I'm not sure if the Volt has this but the Centec nozzle has a shevron brush roll that guides the debris towards the center where the airflow can suck it up, I know some other power nozzles mention this feature but I'm not sure if it makes a difference in performance or allows a nozzle to clean better. I was trying to think of a good straight suction canister to try pairing this nozzle up with and Henry volunteered so I'm going to give it a try on my area rugs.

Central vacuum stores is also selling this nozzle under their brand, imperium, although it's slightly more expensive than what Centec is selling it for but I'm pretty sure it's the same nozzle. Apparently the battery in this nozzle is 20 volts. It worked really well with Henry, it does seem to clean just as well as the Volt.

I've been lusting after this it's been in the perfect vacuum flyer for a while. it looks like it would have better airflow and more usability then the Tacony volt thing

Don't forget the Tacony Volt "thing" hass its OWN suction-booster fan that other powernozzles DON'T have!!!that msakes the Volt better than the others without the booster fans.I find my Volt nozzle has GREATER "usability" over even line powered powernozzles without the fan.The Volt is AWESOME when used with the NSS Pig!

I've been wanting to try the "Electrolux" version for sometime because it seems less bulky than the Volt. I know I'm in the minority but I just am not that impressed with the Volt. I've had it for a couple of years now and I guess I was expecting it to groom the carpeting as well as my TOL Riccar Supralite. Now I realize it basically runs on low speed and doesn't have the metal brush roll but it just doesn't wow me like I thought it would. Both my cleaning lady and partner always reach for the electric hose and Wessel Werk 360 nozzle when any carpeting needs to be cleaned. I'll use the Volt with my HAH outlet to avoid wrapping up the hose. From my previous experiences with Electrolux nozzles I just feel like it would be easier to maneuver around the house and under lower furniture.

With that said, I think I'll have to wait for my Volt to die before I bring another machine in this house. I bought a Sebo Felix I've used a handful of times in the last 8 months so anyone in the market for a Volt or Felix? LOL

Electrolux nozzle

The battery Electrolux nozzle is good, I would say get it if you can, I can't say whether it's better than the Volt but if you like the way Electrolux power nozzles clean than you will like this nozzle. It's pretty much identical to the L shaped power nozzles that Aerus, formally Electrolux includes with their machines, the only difference is that it has the battery pack on top and has a power button on the nozzle. This nozzle is actually not much more expensive than a lot of the Turbo nozzles, so there is no reason to get a Turbo nozzle anymore, this nozzle is far better.

If the shop vac wand is the standard 1.25 also known as 1-1/4 diameter than it will fit. It would allow a shop vac to clean carpets very well.
