A lovely little flea market find

We have a bit indoor second hand market in the next town from mine. Me and my neighbour go every few weeks as he is looking for art decco furniture and such for his house. I never seem to find much there, but today, I got this....

That's lovely Chris, I love an old Goblin on an afternoon lol.

Its quite similar to my Goblin regal from 1958(I think) how much was it btw?

It does power up, although it does need some assistance to get going but I think this is more because it has been sat in a cold warehouse for god knows how long. I don't really know much about it, apart from it being an obvious 119 rival. It's a model G41, 150w. It's not really from my era of interest, but for £15, I couldn't very well leave it sat there, could I?

I doubt that anyone with an eye for a vacuum could leave that beaut behind lol. What sorta assistance are ya talkin bout to get it going?

It was £15 at the second hand market in Shipley. Despite it not really being my area of interest, I couldn't just leave it there lol

^if it doesn't start up straight away, you have to sort of spin the brushroll yourself to get the motor going. But once you've done that, it runs quite nicely

Ohhhh yes! I've come across this problem before. The motor will want lubricating. Perhaps with wd40

From what I've been able to piece together the Goblin Wizard model G41 was made from about 1960 to 1965 or possibly 1966(havnt got a exact date when it was changed to the G41B but that was out in 1967).

That is so cool. It looks like one of our Westinghouse vacs a little. I always liked that "Kirby like" style with the bag off to the side. Congrats =)

I have one of those Chris..

but my Wizard Deluxe has a maroon bag, still with Goblin Wizard Deluxe written on it.

When I first got mine, there was a lot of play in the motor pulley, so much so that the brushroll wouldn't drive. It turned out that the motor bearings were ok but there is a rubber mounting on a plate at the front of the motor that was loose and this was causing the problem I forget exactly what I did but think I managed to wedge something into it and sorted it out. It now drives ok, though I wouldn't say that performance is upto the Hoover upright.

I've had quite a few machines eg Hoovers with wear in the bearings and pulleys but it doesn't usually cause this problem. Personally I'd say it's a design fault on this model.
