Two Upright & True Blue Hoovers

Yikes, I'm being stalked! Picked up this (not yet cleaned) blue bagged Hoover Model U5093 at Goodwill today in London for $4.95. Exact same color scheme as the Bagless U5280. So I guess this helps offset the recent overabundance of bagless plastivacs. Maybe, huh? Am I forgiven?

Thing is, I work at a theatre complex with a 8 month season here. There are over 150 actors renting houses & apartments around town here until November and many, specially the young'uns, need basic vacuums. I will be giving them away on loan til they leave. :-)

danemodsandy,
thank you for your advice, my bedroom suite is in mint condition, i got it at an estate sale for $600 last year, and my great grandmothers diningroom suite i have is near mint except for a few chips in veneer on one side of buffet. I have been using Murphy Oil Soap a few times a year and vacuuming the dust off because I didn't like what the sprays did, I will try your suggestion, thanks.

The bagless hoover sounds like a disaster...

Dirt will come out from every crack or leak in the bagless hoover when the filter is clogged since it is a "dirty air" vacuum. The dirt devil express vac on the other hand is a machine I like. I've used one before and it did very well. And Dave, do you like your hoover elite preferred? I LOVE mine! I didn't know they were sometimes also in blue and had that kind of hose, too, for mine is brown and has a grey stretch-hose on the side. Here is my hoover elite preferred(sorry for the bad quality):

Joe, I much prefer the Preferred simply because it has a paper dust bag. It's a well made vacuum in a great color with a few nasty cheap partz. Holds more debris than any bagless container. I'm not that impressed with the plastic hoses and plan to replace them with the better quality stretchy vinyl hose from the blue Hoover bagless or the ones on two trashed.Eureka bagless vacs.

All these Hoovers I rescued for free use the same basic motor/fan unit with the pop in lamp and are virtually interchangeable. Only difference I can see is it's set up for clean or dirty airflow cleaning. Have two of these now - the blue U5093 and the red U5063.

And frankly I'm personally not much concerned about all that nanodust caught in HEPA filters - been breathing and ingesting it all my life. Pretending that collecting and trapping it in your home environment will make me a better person, or protect me out of doors or at some other indoors location is a futile delusion. I mean, my cats sleep right beside my head much of the time. LOL

Regular vacuuming of floors, walls, beds, etc was good enough for Mom and Gramma, and good enough for me.

Dave, do you believe...

...the signs on the hoover elite preferred? I sure don't! Mine says stuff like "Breathe Easy" and "Energy Efficient" that yous doesn't. But(I believe)they have the same amps: 7.2. And why does yours say "cleaning effectiveness per amp: 16.0" and mine say "cleaning effectiveness per amp: 18.0." What is the "cleaning effectiveness per amp" anyway? Another one: yours says "Allergen Filtration" and mine doesn't. They use exactly the same bag and neither have a filter behind it! Don't believe a word! They are exactly the same machine, except for in different colors and with different hoses and labels.
