I went to three estate sales and brought home two vacuums: a stunning Eureka Vanguard, and an equally stunning Kirby Classic. I also received a lovely Eureka Carpet Beautifier in the mail.
The Vanguard was all of $2. I do not know anything about this vacuum, I did not even know they existed. It looks great and works great. I am in love with the cord winder and the power switch on the handle. The bag appears to say "triple filler".
The Kirby is in amazing shape and appears to have been used very little. It came with a box of accessories, all of which appear never used. One of them was still tightly wrapped in tissue paper from the factory. I had two classics at one point and sold them both. I did not intend to get another one, but this one looked so beautiful I could not pass it up.
The Carpet Beautifier is very neat. I thought from the pictures on ebay that the bottom would be a lightweight plastic, but it is metal. Very heavy, built like a tank. I tested it out on some linoleum and it works perfectly. I am a bit leary about using it on carpet, though. I have some carpet shampoo made by Kirby. The instructions say to shampoo the carpet, let it dry, then vacuum. How is this supposed to work? Won't it just turn the dirt into mud, which will then dry back into the carpet fibers?
