My Favorite Electrolux !

YES !.......You did do good ! That was a great buy and the hose & machine look to be in great condition! The Lux 60 has always been my favorite Electrolux and the one I grew up with! ENJOY !!

Very lovely

That's a great hose and kinda scarce btw so treat it lovingly! It's from the very early G -- the first run of Gs still had that AE/AF type of suction relief vent; it was not until a little later that the newer style with the narrower ribbed cover, in turquoise and lower down on the handle, came out.

Stunning

....Model LX Lux brings back memories of the day my brother was born [9-1959]

I was staying at my grandmothers while all the commotion went on at home. Playing in her back yard, I wandered over to see Mrs. Lloyd, her friend and next door neighbor. I had been in Mrs. Lloyd's home many times. She made great cakes and was always providing such snacks.

Her home was elegant [to me anyway] with a grand piano in the living room and oriental rugs throughout. But I had never been in Mrs. LLoyd's home on Saturday and this was her cleaning day.

Right there in the living room was a Hoover Model 28 and the Model LX Electrolux. I had seen this Model Lux before just in passing, but rememberd it only vaguely. And I had =never= actually had the opportunity to use this particular Electrolux.

Most everyone I knew who had an Electrolux, had either a Model XXX or an AE. Anyway, Mrs. Lloyd told me that her son, David, sold Electrolux for a while and of course she had to buy this from him, even though she didn't think she needed it. But since she had it, she used it for cleaning the upholstery etc. instead of the attachments on the Model 28, discovering, as she did, that the suction on the Model LX far exceeded the Model 28. On the other hand, she would never vacuum her oriental rugs with anything but a Hoover. I remember that day as clearly as it was yesterday. I had quite a party vacuuming with both machines. She even let me drag out the attachments to the Model 28 which I just had to explore as well.

When I got back to grandma's after this wild adventure with Mrs. LLoyd's vacuums, I was informed that I now had a new brother and his name would be David.

Bruce

What a wonderful story. I have many memories of childhood that are associated with visiting the neighbors and having them indulge my fascination with vacuum cleaners. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome LX!

Hey John

What a GREAT LX!! This was the first machine I remember in our home, and literally the yellow-and-red-badged version, the very first that emerged in 1952. The silver-badged came later, as did the final incarnation of the silver with factory wheels called the LXi. I have a very nice one, but not quite as nice as yours that you have just posted. They are really awesome machines, but quite heavy as you no-doubt now know!! Enjoy it!!

Rick
