A Frustrating Lewyt Motor!

I am having a really tough time with my new Lewyt Leader's motor! How do I get into the fan housing? Mine seems very rusted, which may be causing my strife. I heard something rattling in there and would like to see what it is an get it out. I was able to get the rotor out and grease it, but the fan housing is what is giving me the trouble. I would appreciate all of the help I can get, as I am SLIGHTLY new to this. I have taken apart my 515 motor before and greased it. Other than that, I have done very little work on big motors. Thank you!

I think Lewyt motors are just Lamb motors... or one can use a Lamb motor in them as a replacement.

I've never taken one apart. I have a beautiful model 77 that needs a new motor (I've got the donor machine, too.. just need to do it).

Hmm...I really would rather repair it because I would earn some more experience with motors. But Lamb motors are all the same? Maybe if I can get a Lamb motor for a good deal. Thanks, Fred!

Lewyts did use Lamb motors. A modern Lamb motor would be more powerful, but is the same dimensions and will interchange.

I rarely ever repair those amb motors. I usually just replace them.

I have rebilt many lamb motors, Its not that hard. take a flat hed screwdriver and a hammer and drive off the fan cover then remove the fan nut and fan, same with the other fan cover.wash the fans in the sink with a small brush and soap, make a mark on the carbons and housing so you know whare they go back in. remove the carbon brushes, to remove the wire from the carbon brish use a small flat hed screwdriver to pry out. the wire puges into the the carbon brush. then remove the screws under the brushes or on old moters they may be on the side by the carbons. then pull the cap off and the armature will come out with the bearings. ther is a grease cap and a spring in the cap they may fall out. hope this helps.
