A dial-a-matic with an interesting story

I didn't know the 1110 came in more than one color. I have the same machine in salmon (same as the 1100 - only with a check bag indicator). This peacock blue model has always somehow eluded me. Does anybody have one they would like to sell?

Here it is all cleaned up and the bag check indicator is fixed all I really need to do now is fix the hose and super glue or maybe tape the crack under the handle so the handle will be less loose.

Wow!!! This is a nice idea saves room too! I got to say dial-a-matics have to be one of my favorite vacuums!

The Display Master

Jeff's collection is unbelievable. Old woody was beside himself most of last weekend when I paid a visit. It was great fun running sooo many machines. Just wish I felt better.

His display technique is great, it highlights all the great colors Hoover produced. And he knows so much about all the various models, what fun. Between Jeff and Fred S., I don't know who is the greater brain trust. Maybe we should play Hoover trivial pursuit with these two. It would be very interesting. I got it, at the next convention lets do a vacuum game show theme. Would that be fun!!! Think of the possibilities. Maybe a version of "The Price is Right", especially given the unbelievable thread related to Kyle's compact.

Hummmmmm!!!! Anyone? Anyone?

Display

Jeff, that display is awesome. I can't wait to get my first Hoover DAM and Convertible.

Pat, I think your game show/trivial pursuit idea is brilliant.

Even though I'm still a newbie and have yet to attend my first convention, I think a vacuum trivia game would be loads of fun and a great way to learn a lot about our hobby. Morgan, Charlie, et. al. are you taking notes? Has this been tried in the past?

This might even be a great money making opportunity. It could be expanded to include other appliances. I bet it would be a hit, not only with the VCCC and Automatic Washer group, but with baby boomers in general.

Travis...

Nice job on the DAM! You really have it looking its best. They really are unique machines and they are fun to use. I am glad that you were able to save this one for future generations.

Jeff...

Hmmmm...this looks VERY familiar. I wonder where you got the idea to hang up your DAMs to save space????? Another mystery!
This is a photo of all of the standard DAMs and two of the first PowerDrive models. The 1100 and the 1110 are not really visable though.

I stole the idea of hanging DAM's

from Tom...
Well not really, Tom did it first, and had bee suggesting for a while that I try it here, namely to save space. Finally late last summer Fred, Joe and myself did it, and what a difference it makes!
We got 21 machines off the floor!
How many different walls have your DAM's been on Tom?

Technically I suppose you could hang any of them upside down...

They have been on several different walls....

As the numbers increased, I had to find longer walls!LOL! It does save LOTS of space though. The only bad part is that I disconnected the handle spring so that they would lay flat. So to use them, I have to reconnect it. Needless to say, I do not use a DAM very often.
