Fan material

Lexan was used up to some point. I was talking to Bill (a007KirbyMan) the other day about fans. He said Kevlar was never used. The fans are now made of Amodel. It's supposed to be some new type of very strong plastic compound.

Hey Ben. Here's a pic of the serial number.

new style fan

the kirby G5 was the first to use the new tan plastic fan, as far as I know. all of the G4 and older have a gray plastic fan. sofar every kirby I have took in for service needs a new fan on G4 and older models. if you look close at the gray fan you can see cracks oround the center, it time to replace it. the new style fans seem to hold up much better so far I have not had a bad one yet, just some beat to hell and back so I replaced it, but it still worked well just looked bad.

I got the cloth bag on the Classic III cleaned up, and it looks very good. I really want to tear the rest down so I can start cleaning, buffing and polishing, but I'm not real sure how some of the trim comes off. Looks like rubber tabs pushed through, but I'm afraid I'll break them trying to get them off. Same for the belt lifter. Any suggestions?
