One of my friends gave me a call a while ago and said that her neighbor was throwing away a vacuum. I made a quick trip to her house and was completely surprised when I saw a Kenmore Progressive canister laying in the grass. I thought it was too good to be true but I took it anyways. I got it home to find it is literally almost brand new. There are few to no scuffs on it, it has all of the attachments, and runs perfectly. I don't think any of the attachments were even used, judging by the condition. I don't understand why anyone would throw it away. It just needed a new bag...

You never know, man. People throw out the best vacuums, then go to Wal-Mart and spend $300 on crap and get upset about having spent their money on crap.

I didn't mention them, but last night I also found a Hoover Soft & Light, a Hoover Bagless, and a bagged Bissell Powerforce.

I was so excited when I saw the Soft & Light because my parents had one of these a long time ago that we used in one of our campers. It needs a really good cleaning and some attachments, but other than that it works great.

The Hoover Bagless will clean up very nicely. It's just very dusty, so I have a feeling it was used in a garage. I have a soft spot for these since they're technically an Elite.

The Bissell is basically new. The bag was a brick when I took it out, so I'm assuming they filled the bag up and threw it away. There are no scuffs on the vacuum and it has all of the attachments. The brushroll doesn't even have anything wound around it. I can probably get $30 for it on Craigslist.

Here's a picture of everything from last night. It's a terrible phone picture, but I'll post individual pictures when they're cleaned up.

I've always loved the look of the Hoover Bagless. Which color did you find? It looks green on my monitor, but the picture is so dark I can't tell for sure. I'd love to find a purple version myself. You have had some great finds recently.

Those are nice finds, especially the Kenmore!

Last week one of my neighbors threw out a bagless upright and Monday night another neighbor threw out an early/mid 90s 16 gal Craftsman. I didn't bother getting either as I figured they were dead.

I just picked up one of these at the scrap yard today. No attachments and the cord was chopped but it is pretty nice looking. And after unclogging the wand it works great. Exceptionally quiet.

Wow, Chase... the God of suction continues to smile on you... we need to rub your forehead for luck!  I'm sure you will have fun playing with them  and cleaning them up and congrats on the awesome finds!

<span style="background-color: #888888;">and one in</span>

<span style="background-color: #888888;">PURPLE!</span>

(Pretty to look @, for sure!)

Last time I check, I'm quite sure all 3 where mint. I haven't used the purple model yet, found sticking out of a dumpster,

they plastic rod in the machine that switches the cleaner on (Whoever's reconditioned one knows which one I speak of) snapped and fell into the motor, putting the machine in a permanant state of power.

I replaced this with a N.O.S one :D

The only issue with these models,

THE FILTER!

Those expensive cartridges "Filth-a-fied" fast, I brought one new for the one in burgandy, and within one round around the house, and the thing went from white too, well, filth!

Ducks,

-Alex.

Nathaniel, it is a green model. I have a blue one laying around somewhere. I love these. They clean well and I really like seeing what I pick up. These filters have never been a problem for me.

Bobby, lately I've been having quite a bit of luck! I've actually found some more stuff within the past few months but I neglect to post about anything. I'll have to make a big thread that has all of my recent stuff!

so unfair

that sort of thing just doesnt seem to happen much in the uk anymore gone are the days of the dustman taking everything that was thrown out, cant even go to the local tip/dump whatever you want to call it and pick up cleaners as its now against the law here to let electrical appliances go, in case someone electrocutes themselves etc etc healt and safety gone doo lally

Hoover Bagless.

I bought a new hoover bagless when they first came out and it only lasted a few months before it died....The fan broke and it blew a hole in the motor housing! I was so upset because it was a really good vacuum except for the awful filter set up.

I find stuff like that all the time. Just because it's out for trash, don't assume it's "trash"...many are in the need of a new bag and someone decided they wanted a shiny new bagless instead or clogged by someone careless enough to vacuum up a sock or something they didn't see under a piece of furniture.

I test and go over them well outside...worst case they get stripped for scrap and the rest goes out to the trash again.
