A couple of new toys

a couple of pictures of the new toys I have just added to the collection.

First a General Electric upright with cord reel... I have been looking for one of these for years, this is a US model, it was also made in Australia by GE minus the cord reel and was called the Shagmaster.... great name

It always strikes me as odd that Hoover went back to the 652 style for its last commercial metal base Senior seeing that the previous U4002 in Grey( which I have ) has a Ranger style hood (obviously!!)

How you doing? I never knew there was a commercial gray ranger, give that it is odd that they went back to the 652 base.

In OZ we also had this style hood as the last model

In Regards to the 2 Hoovers...

I presume there were no (exact) U.S. equivalents. Correct? As I think that was where the Guardsman line fit in perfectly in this particular market segment.

I'm not sure if there where US equivalents to the above Hoover's. The 652 is UK made while the 4002 style is Australian made.

I also have a US Guardsman in the collection...

Was the U4007 the U.S. equivalent of the U4002?

The U4002 in its standard version(the mustard yellow colour) made its debut in 1973 - I believe the U4003 would be closest to it?
Believe it or not that one does have a headlight unlike the commercial version, the lens on that model is VERY prone to yellowing as you can see!!
