Might actually be a vac shop rebuild. I would think kirby by the tradition time would still have plenty of original d80 stock to use. But who knows.

Ive seen em in red, brown and blue. Would be fun to have a nice example of them all.

if its a vac shop rebuild, how do they get parts (bumper, bag hangar cover, emtor tray, trim, etc) in the blue or other colors? wouldnt those still be kirby parts?

They were rebuilt by a company out of

New Mexico called Palomar Kirby rebuilders . They used to sell to vacuum shops in the 70`s and 80`s , they used to be the best at rebuilding Kirby vacuums. They used to take the older classics and traditions and shave the heads down and make the look like the newer Heritage style Kirbys.They made all of their parts and you could order the kirby in your trim choice.

Wow kirbyloverdan. That is some neat info. I would assume the company is no longer in business, are you aware if their inventory was aquired by another company, or if a similar outfit exists today?

Quite honestly..

If I ever found a kirby like that I would restore it like polish it, and clean it, and such but I would keep all of the blue parts. I think it would be very cool just to say that I have an all blue Kirby Dual 80 LOL maybe i'll find one someday!(;

The seller has a 560 with a plain red bag, if only all the bojack bags were plain like that, it looks good... :)

Lookls like the bag and the handle came straight from the trad. And why is the emptor lid brown? Looks bojacked to me.
