Just wanted to put out there a very big "Thank You" to John Gregory of John Gregory Sweeper Central in Dunmore, Pa. Several months ago I was looking for brush replacements for the agitator of my newly aquired Hoover Citation. You all know how difficult that is! John graciously rebuilt an agitator with new replacement brushes and sent it with correct replacement belts, C bags and a spare bulb. The machine runs beautifully and even sounds the way it should. And cleans better than ever! Again, John, thank you so much. Even Sheldon likes it!

that brushroll is technically a replacement brushroll. originally for the model 28 and 913/18 commercial cleaners, in the 1970's hoover stopped making the original brushrolls for the modes 62-64 cleaners and substituted these.

the "canoes" for these replacement rolls as they are often called, are much easier to find than the original brush strips for the original model 62-64 cleaners with one screw and one locking tab. below is a photo from a model 63 from another post here of an original model 62-64 brushroll. the original factory brushrolls as shown below, those strips are extremely rare and even in hoarder vac shops almost dont exist anymore.

I gave away boxes of Hoover brush strips just two weekends ago, along with an entire tote of vintage brush rolls as well as vintage cloth bags. It pays to come to a Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Convention.
