two weekend a little birdie found me something im lead to believe is rather rare, and that is a rouned hood lower line Cordaway Eureka upright, the base is dated 1972....so sine me nor this *Person* had never seen it before, i made a call to our dear Alex braun.....and he told me that this was a special Kmart model...it is not a 2000 series...and it has the unuseal triangle Dial.A.Nap. to this point ive only seen Montgomery Wards cord reel uprights in this lower line form...and all the Eureka machine ive seen ahve been higher end Vangurd like uprights...

so here it is in its yellow and white....

Very nice find!

That cleaner reminds me of a Sanitaire model 623 my paternal grandmother had back in the 1970s and 1980s, except hers lacked the cord reel and headlights, and the trim was wild moss green instead of yellow. Does the cleaner run smoothly?

ok...hun...

that would have been a actuall Eureka upright not a sanitare.....sanitares were only red and chrome, or royal blue if it was a later blue line. but i know what machine your talking about....=)...close but no cigar so to speak..

and yes it does run smoothly.....well after all i did service it..lol

And yes!!!,

Sanitaire did make a home model in the 70's,and it WAS green and off white and sold new for 69.95--89.95,and ONLY sold in Vac stores!

was it a

Sanitare or a EUREKA COMMERCIAL???>....theres a major color and style diffrence....and Sanitare did not make anything for home use until the 80's....that was the point of being Sanitare and not Eureka...

and David i.....

would please so kindley ask you, to please leave my theads alone due to our past dealings....=)

It was indeed a Sanitaire...

I would often see my grandmother's cleaning lady using it while my brothers and I visited her. The nameplate directly over the Dial-A-Nap (whose lowest setting was marked Patio) read Sanitaire in the older, All-capitals style, and the data plate on the underside of the cleaner read 'Sanitaire, made by Eureka Williams company, Bloomington, I'll.' This cleaner had a 4-position Dial-A-Nap, a rocker switch located at the upper left-hand rear of the base, and a 3.35 amp motor.

I sincerely hope I haven't caused any problems between you and David. My only intent was to complement you on a cleaner you had located, and to remark on how similar it looked to a cleaner my grandmother formerly owned.

Raymond.

no.....you didint....

those problems already existed....thats WHY i asked him not to mess with my threads....facts str8 or not....=)...i assure you Ray it was not you...=)

it should have a....

two speed 3.5 amp pancake motor with a metal fan.....but unfortunatley the motor was replaced..=(

yellow Eurekas

Very nice!I have seen few yellow Eurekas and never as deluxe as to have cordwinder. The green/white Sanitaires also had a companion canister(using type H bags)as seen recently in the place of which we do not speak.

Pancake vs. Blender motor

In discussing Eureka uprights, I've often heard of their motors being described as occurring in two types-pancake and blender. Being far more familiar with Hoover than most other brands, I have two questions-what differentiates the two types of Eureka motor, and is one type superior to the other in certain cleaning applications?
