70s Sears 1500 watt heater

While browsing the small appliance aisle at the thrift shop I came across the little guy for 9 dollars, I've always liked the glow of these old space heaters but there always in bad shape. This however looked brand new so I got it and I Am very impressed by this thing!! I've gone through three cheap chinese plastic ones in probably 5 years, this guy however should last me a lifetime.

For these-this is similar to the old Arvin models-you could replace the heating coils yourself if they burn out.Appliance parts shops usually have the replacement nichrome wire.

I have memories of my dad using one of these in his place of business to keep his feet warm at his desk while he worked They are great and really throw out the heat. Seems you can't find any new appliances these days without those annoying and ugly warning tags on them to remind you to have some common sense before you plug it in. I wonder where common sense has gone....

Space heater

My dad had an almost identical heater to this but not of Sears make. It still works perfect despite being 40 plus years old! He used to have it going in his workshop back in the day for hours at a time and it threw out a lot of heat. It has been sitting in the cellar for the past 3-4 years in disuse but I plan on cleaning it up and put it back in use for my own cellar workshop that I'm preparing.

I wish we could have quality made products like this again!

My dad has an older one in the basement for when he isn't running the pellet stove, goes to 1625 watts.

Neat little heater and clean! Reminds me of my similar vintage Arvin I still use in the bathroom. DO oil the fan motor and clean it all up inside if needed. It will then be ready for another 40 years!

I also have the old Sears 'Programmable' heater, the one with selective mechanical timer on it.
