Thanks, Thunderhexed.

As you may notice from the pics, this DS50 has the original tan bag, and it's in very good shape. I emptied it out the other weekend, and it looked like someone tried to clean a fireplace with it... lots of black soot/dust. But I was impressed with the bag construction - very thick fabric with a very dense inner layer. Sort of like the original Filteraire... ;-)

I haven't had a chance yet to clean up and polish the DS50. Too many other project (including house and yard). But I do have a buffing machine (besides the Handi-butler) in my workshop that I've never used, so I'll be plugging that in and trying out the rouge sticks. Probably I should practice on some scrap aluminum first.

Replaced the headlight bulb. The old one was 25 watts; the closest I could find at the local hardware store was 15 watts. It's bright enough to illuminate the Kirby logo. Looks like someone took the paper label off the belt control and slapped it on the aluminum housing. I guess I'll have to try peeling that off intact somehow, since it will be destroyed when I polish the machine.

dual 50 year

the sanitronic was made around '65 and the dual 80 around '68 the classic was out by'70 so the dual 50 would be around '66 or'67. Mark

oderific

does kirby still make oderific? I worked for a kirby distributor in the early 80's, that odorific was a great deodorizer, was very potent.
