Adam trying out the new Ultra Kleen from Air-Way. The proper way to use a canister is with the hose wrapped around your waist. As shown in virtually every instruction manual of every canister vacuum cleaner from the 1950s.
John Gregory asked me years ago why I would use real China to serve a bunch of guys at a mini meet. He told me my dishwasher would thank me if I just used good quality paper plates. After the meal, with a wave of your hand, the dishes are done.
The 1910 Hoover Senior. We got it to run (it's DC not AC) with a converter Owen Perkins made for it. So much fun to finally hear it running properly after all these many decades.
My good friend and my best man at my wedding, Bob Humphries, made his famous potato recipe. Similar to “funeral potatoes“ with a few exceptions like substituting crushed cornflakes for crushed potato chips. You know what they say, “a moment on the lips“? We tried to take that into consideration.
Tom ! your Hoover senior is a beast !! this huge motor and this big copper plate I would love to see it working ! I corrected the DC with a bridge rectifier to run a very old GE electric fan (DC motors are extremely rare)
We are definitely going to run this old beast at the convention, the third weekend in September. This year, the convention is going to be filmed and put on YouTube for everyone to enjoy. The cleaning contest this year is “power nozzle canisters“ so that will be wonderful. And as always, we will have T-shirts so that everyone who comes will be able to remember it every time they wear their shirt.
I made this wonderful pasta salad because it’s cold, delicious, and it goes with barbecue perfectly. The dressing for the Pasta salad is a southern recipe and you have to cook it first. I am so thankful to have so many friends in the vacuum collecting community who are also great cooks. The recipe for this dressing came from my friend Hans Craig in North Carolina.
