It is one of the....long-lost-dyson-relatives.
That is exactly right. James Dyson talks at length about the DryTech in his book "Against The Odds", and how Sears believed that it would not sell, and tried to force him to change it. They brought in all kinds of engineers to make it different. he stood by his design, and apparantly they figured out he had it right from the get go.
It was designed to be used with the Capture. In fact Sears sold buckets of the stuff along with the machine. Before this they had a bagged machine made by singer that was a worthless pice of crap.
Dyson's Cyclones made the dry cleaning process possible.
I really personally think that the machine is not okay for regular vacuuming. The brush is way to thick and agressive, and the filtration in the machine is dismal at best. It can filter out that powdery stuff ok, but fine dust and dirt particles do not really work well. In fact againfrom the book he tells that this product used his most basic, and original technology.
Hence there was only one cyclone in the machine.
