Hi I have owned a Kirby Heritage for years and last night I added an Ultimate G Diamond Edition to the family :-) I've wanted one for years as the Heritage can be a bit hard to push!

When I switch on the cleaner the brush spins but whenever it touches the carpet it stops. I bought a new non genuine belt this morning from a local shop but have had no better luck with that. I tried using the new looking genuine belt from the carpet cleaner but it is also the same. I've tried adjusting the roller height and have cleaned off any hair/string etc with no joy. It's like the cleaner is sucking up the carpet and jamming the brush, this doesn't happen on the old Heritage. I have just ordered a genuine belt but am afraid this will not sort out the issue.

Sorry for my first post being a question but I'm worried about the new cleaner LOL

Thanks
Andrew

Is the motor shaft where the belt rides clean?Same with on the brushroll. Is the "treaded" side of the belt riding on the motor shaft and brushroll-sometimes folks put the belt on with the smooth side in.And of course use the REAL Kirby belts with the treaded inner surface-forget the Pt# offhand.Have some at home-Can't always remember Pt#'s.

I'm just using a belt made by Electropart BLT017 until my order comes from Amazon. I have to admit though I do think I have some other problem. :-/

Savo,

Make sure you are using a genuine belt that has a treaded pattern (not smooth) on the inside of it.

How are you adjusting the cleaning height of the nozzle? It sounds to me like you might have it too low. To adjust it correctly, you should raise it all the way to the top, then lower it one notch at a time until you hear a change in motor sound as the brushroll contacts the carpet, then lower it one more notch and you will be at the correct cleaning height for your carpet.

This link to the Ultimate G video (Also applies to Diamond or any another model in the G-Series) This Video will teach you about replacement parts and adjusting the brush and replacement parts. I Think the previous owner Most likely move the brush contact numbers all the way down as the brush hasn't worn down enough yet try moving it to either one or two.

Thanks for the replies.

I have a genuine belt on order which should be here in a few days. I have tried the belt off the carpet shampooer but maybe it's done, I bought non genuine belts locally which didn't work (no pattern). I have tried the cleaner on various carpets round the house with the same results. The brush roll and pulley have been cleaned of any hair and the roll has been tried in all 3 positions. Each time I use the cleaner I start off at full height and lower until I hear a change in motor noise & then the roller gets jammed into the carpet. I do have another Kirby (Heritage) and can use that properly so I'm sure I have a problem. Hopefully the new belt will help.

@brycerivers I wasn't sure if I should leave the roller at 1 or 3 so in the end decided on 2 :-) I'll move it to 1 now.

Thanks
Andrew

I believe the shampooer belt is slightly larger than the standard belt. Using the shampooer belt in the rug nozzle would cause the belt to slip and the brushroll will stop. You need standard floor nozzle belt.

OK so I'm embarrassed that I even started this thread. The Kirby is working fine now that I have the correct genuine belt installed. The non genuine belts work with my old Heritage but from now on I will make sure I keep new genuine spare belts in the drawer

Thanks for the replies
Andrew

I think the G series used a different belt than than the Heritage. Glad everything is working fine now.

The G series has a green light on the nozzle that helps monitor the belt too.
