Just wanted to get any opinions that you guys might have. I'm moving my Mom, who is 81 yrs old, into a smaller home and when I was cleaning out the storage area, I ran across this vacuum cleaning, the Sanyo Transformax Turbo 3 in 1. I brought it back with me and plugged it up, the first thing that caught my attention was how quite it was and it did a great job of cleaning for such a smaller vacuum. My question is, is this a collector or rare vacuum? It seems really hard to find on the web, although I was able to find the bags at a local vacuum cleaner repair shop. The owner of the vacuum repair shop asked me to give him a price and he would buy it from me, but I have no clue about it or about the value.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Billy

What a find! The more basic version of this Sanyo was the top rated stick-vac in Consumer Reports tests in the early 1990's. Excellent suction, quiet and lightweight. Versatile too as it can be transformed into a little canister vac as well.

Indeed, you have an extremely rare deluxe version of this great vac - unlike the basic blue version, you have a turbo nozzle for better carpet cleaning AND an onboard dusting brush!

Enjoy your new toy! And congrats on a rare find.....Panasonic should have continued making these vacs after they bought Sanyo about a decade ago.

Thanks eurekaprince! That is what I thought when looking it up, it does a great job and with one push of a button, it becomes the canister you mentioned. Really convenient as well! Thanks again for the response.

Billy...2 quick questions as I've never seen the deluxe yellow version in person....

1. Can you turn off the revolving brush so it does not harm bare floors?

2. Did it come with a crevice tool as well as the dusting brush? The basic blue version came with an onboard crevice tool.

Hey Brian - sorry for late response.

It does have the crevice tool attached to the back and it has the brush as well. As far as turning off the revolving brush while using it on a floor, I am not really sure to be honest. It has a "button" that says Floor and Rug on it, so not sure if that just raises it or actually turns it off, the revolving brush. I will play with it a bit tonight and see what I can come up with.

If I decide to sell this, where do you recommend I sell it at, and what would you think would be a fair asking rate?

Thanks again.

Cool I never saw this yellow one, but I did see a blue one at a vacuum shop once. Sanyo made some interesting vacuums.

Hi Billy...good to know you have the full package there.

I think that if you want to make money off of the Sanyo, you should post it on ebay - not sure what you could get for it. But if you want to be charitable to a collector here at Vacuumland, you could offer it up for s cheap price in the Super Market section. I'm sure there are many collectors here who would love to own it...maybe even within "driving/pick-up" distance to your location! :-)

On the other hand....why sell it? It is a great vacuum to own.
