Here’s 3 Eurekas I have, the upright needs a few parts, you think I can get then still?
The black canister is my workhorse around the house, the little brown one was given to me, not sure in the year, 70’s maybe?

The Eureka Whisk 165 is from 1982.

I remember I seen that upright at Goodwill once but didn't get it.

Most of Eureka's upright parts are interchangeable since they used the same overall design for decades.

I dont see any of the parts I need, mine is a 1428 -D. Mine has a metal handle, looks like just plastic handles are avail. I loaned this to 2 girls, lookes like they beat the crap out of it. I’m going to clean it up nice. It needs it. My attic is carpeted, that’s the only use it gets anymore up there. It needs a good cleaning. Taking theses apart, they are pretty easy?

I take that back, looks like some is avail, thanks. I’ll try them for parts. The light doesn’t work, if there’s 2 axle springs, one is missing. It’s time to fix this up before parts are disco’d. I recall seeing the owners manual, I’ll have to pull it out.

I started cleaning it up, man was it filthy on the inside, I used a #2 Novus plastic polish on the blue housing (base) and Griots garage fine hand polish for cars on the painted metal housing, came out nice. All the paint scuffs came rite off.
I have a list of parts including a cord, the bulb was blown, it’s a lot easier than detailing a car, lol check out the pics. Still need to do the bag and the handle.

nice!

was my favorite model as a kid. I'd still like to find a nice one. I remember seeing them at k-mart when I was a kid in the 80's. yours looks almost like new. I've worked on a few- I never understood why they used springs instead of screws to hold the metal cover on.

cool

I figured it would cover all the 1400 series. thats what comes up for parts when I do a search for parts. mine needs the cord hooks(It wont even hold the bag up without them) and the headlight lense. mines just like yours but it has chrome and red. it says Eureka on the top just like yours instead of Sanitair so mine must be pretty old too. although the metal cover the covers the motor gets pretty hot to the touch even after putting a brand new motor in. maybe its just the nature of mine because it doesnt have the vents like yours. mine is going to need a bit more cleanup than yours.

I called the above link, they said they were busy and would call me back. Lol. Waiting, I need those cord hooks. Bumper, bulb, and a cord. Ahh, I see they vented the top. The motor cover inside is missing all the foam seal. I just can’t believe how dirty it was inside. I never use it much, just in the attic, but it was fun fixing it up.

they are tough

a neighbor had one like yours that went through a several neighborhood flood in'86- and survived! lot of people had to even find other places to live during that time and until their houses were fixed up. after the flood was over peoples carpets were ruined, people that had sheetrock was ruined, we lost all kinds of stuff. this pic shows the after the waterlevel was going down low enough to walk through

What kind of car is that in the driveway there?

So far these online vac Shops are no help. You call them and they want you ypto, look up the part on their web site. Ill try a local vac shop I guess. What a pain.

not sure

what kind of car. I remember it being a lot deeper and I was in a boat a we went around looking at the roofs of houses- thats how deep it was at one point. heres what my Eureka looked like. after cleaned up it was like new again. the neighbors that gave it to me the woman was that perfectionist type- treated her appliances like a luxury car if it had a scratch it was ruined. they bought an identical vacuum after. the sticker on top of mine was still perfect 1458 F. the one in this pic is filthy. I dont have a pic of the one I had

I washed the Dirtbag in the laundry tub, it was filthy. It’s vinyl, it has some wear but i think it’s fine since you can’t get this color combo anymore, if I can, I’ll get a new one. I used chrome polish on the stainless handle, has scotch tape, elec tape sticky junk on it, all came out pretty good. Need the bulb, and a cord. I may just cut a foot off and put the OG cord back on, I have a black one, I’d like a white in3, I wonder if I can get one in white.
