What "makeshift" vacuum attachments have U made? Does it work or is it useless?

I made a housefly catching tool out of a vinegar gallon jug (also can be used as a funnel) it fits a regular 1.25" hose/wand. Say goodbye to pesky flying insects!

My Grandmother crafty in her own way...

Used to use the empty cardboard rolls of wrapping paper as extra wands for extra reach. Years ago I had indoor outdoor carpet in the kitchen of my one apartment and it was to thin that the power vac for my Rainbow didn't pick up that well so I bought a extra floor brush and took the brush itself off and used that for cleaning low low pile carpet or the rugs in the bathroom.

Oh, gee, the Handi-Gardener! Don't know how it works, still in the prototype phase!

Swarf collector

I recently made one of these, to keep scrap metal separate from workshop dirt, and help keep metal particles off the felt filter of my Bosch. Yes, it works very well. A photograph will be appended as soon as I next go to the workshop.

All best

Photograph, as promised

I have no idea what machine the smaller hose is from.... It was just one I had lying around. Simple device, crude, but effective. The area airflow inside the canister is low enough that even very fine metal particles settle out.

All best

I've done it.

Way back when i had a Black and Decker canister, which had a "reversed" wand like old hoovers or filterqueens. I made an upholstery tool out of soda cans i used one to make a neck and attached it to a partially flattened base with a hole cut in it, i only tried it out once or twice before i threw it away.

And about ...6 years ago i made a separator for a shop vac i had purchased. the plan was to use it like a central vacuum. I took a 5 gallon bucket and i think a 6 qt funnel. Initially i set it up like a normal cyclone (narrow end at the bottom) but found that lighter weight debris would just spin around the top of it, never depositing into the bucket. So i inverted the funnel and aimed the inlet slightly downwards, connected the vac to the separator with 2" pvc pipe to try to have as smooth an air path as possible. It seemed to work much better in this configuration.

I also made a hose for that "central vac" 2 8' shop vac hoses together using a dirt devil handvac hose end, i used rubber bands to attach a kirby classic cord plugged into a pigtail to power the lux PN-5 nozzle i was using with it.
