Hi guys, sorry for all the threads I'm making in contemporary ATM, but I'm going through a phase of loving Miele vacuums currently, I have a blue S4 but I'm wondering what is the best model available?
I know the S2 is the cheapest but I know it's not necessarily the best, I'm thinking the S6 is a good model? The S8 just looks a little big for me.
Thanks
George

The S6 is just like the S4 but has the added Comfort rewind pedal. Don't get the Silence or Ecoline models as the floor head is a lot heavier IMHO and noisier despite the 1200 watts versus 2000 watts. The blue Sprint model is a good one, base line but worth it.

The S8 also has the new one touch auto cord rewind Comfort pedal as standard like the S6 but has tools behind the flap and bigger GN dust bag.

If you want the S6, then the best one is the super sexy S6730 Red Velvet, that also has the electronic handle controls as opposed to the standard power control knob on all other S6 models. Its very nice indeed, but pricey!
Nice vac the S6 - and very light to carry around. Am tempted by the S8 as well, but am waiting for the S8 Cat and Dog to go on substantial special offer before buying one.

Here's the Red Velvet S6:

I like the S381. Have always liked it - but it is fairly heavy but built better than the Miele S6 and current range. Depends on what you really need, rather than want - I find the remote control handles to be a nuisance. I'm more used to the slider control on the SEBO K series rather than having to make sure the remote control is angled towards the sensor on the body of the Miele vac to pick up what I want it to do via the handle and the handles, though soft and comfortable can often be too big for their own good with Miele.

See old review of the Miele S381. Either the S371 and S381 are good to go for - one is in light blue, the other is in dark burgundy.

Also, bear in mind that at the moment Currys are selling a lot of "old" Miele vacuums like the S700 for prices close to £200 (£179) and just before Christmas they were selling the old Miele S380/381 for something ridiculous like £150. They only used to cost £99 and were the cheapest models to begin with before the S2 came along, sitting alongside the lighter S4. Certainly if you enjoy the S4, the S6 is the best one to go for - it is far better than the S2 as it has telescopic height adjustable tubes, a much longer hose and far more space efficient. Also, its a bit better made but you compromise on the bag size (3.5 litre FJM same as the S4) compared to the GN from the S5 series that fits into the S2.

Miele S8 total care

Miele s8 total care is the best you can buy at the moment. Its a bigger machine but less heavy than it former s5 series.

0.8 grams

You are right it,s only 0.8. funny it feels much lighter. the uniq is top of the range, but if i wanted to spens that much money i would go for the hepa edition. very special blue same wheels as the uniq, and a remote control. over here it is 80 euro cheaper as the uniq.

Whoops, apologies for the wrong g/kg data.

Still, its not light enough. I mean, I have a SEBO C2.1 and a SEBO D2 - the D2 is a bit lighter but not as light as I'd like. End of the day though, I thought Miele's top of the range S8 has a longer cord than the standard 6.5 metres on the rest of the range. Anyone know if this is true?
