2015 VCCC Convention and Vacuum Musuem PART 2

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Thanks Will!

Thanks for making the effort and taking the time for posting all those great pics! I'm sure I'm not the only one in the world who does not take part in the public media, and this gives everyone the opportunity to see them. It was a fun time, new members, and old that we haven't seen for a while, and there were plenty of vacuums to play with. A good time was had by all! Take care, talk soon.

What great pictures, Will. Thanks for posting them. The adventure at Fred's looked like fun. I'm sorry I missed the convention. It was wonderful to see Ruth Hollander's pictures, too.

You're right Rob Shore. Heaven forbid the vice president of a vacuum cleaner collectors club would actually touch any other brand of vacuum except Hoover. Always wear those gloves because all other machines are "nasty", filled with crawling things. If the gloves are a joke, it's not funny. If it's not a joke, something is definitely wrong. I would hope a vacuum club member could actually appreciate ALL brands of vacuums, and celebrate them, and have knowledge of them.

Rob, You'll have to attend next year's

convention with us. You, too, will have a ball. You'll see all kinds of machines there, some you've always wanted to see, and some you might already own in your own personal collection.
I'll be driving next year, so, I'll be able to bring some vacs with me, and, possible, others home with me. You would have enjoyed St. Louis. Some of us got there Wed afternoon, plenty of time to rest, unwind, share fun times with other members. I saw everything I wanted to see while I was there, well, maybe go into the Arch...maybe some future trip.

Tom Gasko

I am not going to get involved in the party lines of former/ousted VCCC members, but that comment was a little mean spirited.

Though John has too much class to respond, I do not posses such traits, hence I shall advise that it is long running humor, and John would never bash or put down anyone or anything.

That comment was totally mean spirited.

Tom Gasko has more class than to respond to someone who won't even give his email address on his profile, (much less a fake name). This is at least the third time you've asked him about his history with the clubs and he hasn't responded. Give it up.

The conventions are wonderful

You get to actually meet other members in person, find out what they're really like, see machines up close that you only dreamed of, see wonderful sights/attractions of the local area, etc. St. Louis is beautiful, and that Fox Theatre was tremendous....was worh it all just to stand in that beautiful building. Next visit, perhaps the "Arch".

Try, very hard, to attend next year's convention.

If I had known you were going to be in Springfield, I would have invited you to lunch or dinner for authentic Springfield style Chinese food. Also, maybe a day in Branson MO, the Vegas of the Midwest.

springfield was a "whistle stop" on the way back home to texas. we only planned to hit up a few vacuum shops and maybe some thrift stores. we werent there but for maybe 3 hours. nice to know there is a collector there. have you been to freds on kearney st?

I sure do know the Fred's crew although I usually hit up the Doc Charlie's House of Vacuums. They keep a collection of completely restored antique/vintage vacuums on permanent display in the window. Springfield has a totally of 5 vacuum stores and a gold mine of thrift stores and flea markets. The best is literally called The S.T.D. Flea market with two locations.

WOW !

That convention does look like a lot of fun! So many great machines. That commercial Bison looks like something someone could only dream of having! As for what's in the basement, is anything for sale? I saw some stuff that caught my eye :)

Well, I do know a Matt Loveland! I don't think I've actually met him. I've heard my grandparent's talk about him. It's probably the same person. How many could there be? Joseph email me and we will discuss it! I really don't want to give my relatives names out on this site. My email is in my profile. [this post was last edited: 7/28/2015-22:35]

No problems and will do. Springfield a.k.a. Springvegas shows how small the world is. We have a saying here "What Happens in Springfield will probably haunted you for the rest of your life." We can be a fun stopping place to spend a day

This area of the country can be a gold mine for all things vintage. Estate sales can be amazing since most seniors around here never throw anything away. Three of the vacuum shops have been in business for a couple generations so like Fred's, the goodies lay waiting to be found. Other towns close by to hit up are Carthage, Camdenton, Kimberling City and Harrison AR. They have fantastic flea markets and thrift stores. If you are really wanting to have fun then a weekend in Eureka Springs AR is amazing with Flea Markets, antique malls, art galleries, historical hotels, amazing restaurants and for the gay community- 3 pride fests.[this post was last edited: 7/28/2015-23:10]
