(2004) Hoover spin sweeper outdoor sweeper.

Here's what I found at the thrift store. I never collect sweepers only Vacuums. But now that I have it I kinda like it and will be using it for outdoor cleaning and basement cleaning. Any info on this machine guys?

I seen one on eBay years ago for $15 with free shipping but passed because I already have a Ryobi Devour which is powered. I suspect the Ryobi Devour is made from the old molds of this unit because it looks exactly identical.

These are just manual industrial pavement sweepers for driveway, walkway, parking lots, warehouse floors.

I had the idea of rubberizing the wheels to make them last longer and stop that irritating plastic on concrete rattle, but have not tried that yet.

Something weird with the height adjustment

So when I put it on high, it lowers the machine all the way and when I put it low it makes the machine higher? Did they mess up something or is that how it is.

Assuming the knob did not get turned past its limits or the wheel out of its axis, I think putting it on high will raise the back end and lower the front end. Low will lower the back end which raises the front. Probably to pick up different debris types or surfaces. I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

I just got back from a whole house cleaning video with that 2009 red bagged eureka lightspeed and it did me in. I was cleaning the whole house and it took me bout a hour.

Just an idea

I don't know what you paid for this, but I'm sure you got a good deal. I wonder

if this machine could be used as a pre-scrubber on heavily soiled carpets, like shag

rugs, to be followed up with a steam extractor to finish the job. I say this because I

offered to clean a rental for a friend whose unit had badly soiled shags and I tried

everything I knew and at the end of the day it was a bust. He replaced them with new

plush pile. If I had your machine I would have considered trying to use it just to see

the results. Do you think the bristles are too long for this to work?

My idea

This sweeper can't really clean a shag carpet and I own one too? It's only made for outdoor purposes. 1. Is your carpet dirty and you need to vacuum it? Hoover convertible machines from the 70s and 80s can clean shaggy carpets. 2. Does it need pressure washed, you can by a commercial pressure washer to deep clean it. I posted these two just in case you where referring to one or another.

Bill, this in no way can be used to scrub anything. It is a driveway sweeper - not a scrubber. It would not even fit in a house. These are as big as a lawnmower.

If you want a scrubber to work cleaners into the carpet, you would need a orbital buffer with pads or a vintage scrubber shampooer.

The Oreck Orbiter is a good scrubber cleaner.
