$20 Sebo X4 a steal? Almost

So I bought and X4 for $20 and thought I would clean it up, change the brush, filter and bags and all would be Great. I did not notice in my hast, the cord was damaged and the door mechanism was busted so it would not close properly, it need a entire front door cover. So I ordered a new door directly from Sebo and decided, what the heck I would change the motor cover, I also ordered a very nice generic power cord from amazon and I wired it in the handle, of course also a new brush roll and filter. Here is the before and after. I have now Invested $150, not the $20 steal I envisioned but I saved a Sebo from the trash, it was abused and misunderstood.

Vacuums are not an investment, so it will always cost a lot to repair them. Too many people throw parts out so there's very little parts left for a lot of vacuums as well. It's like trying to find parts for a 1930's or 1940's car, sometimes it will take years. Just need a lot of patience to wait for the parts to show up.

A lot of times the company themselves will also throw out all their unsold parts and not even put them out to the secondhand market - this was the case with Hoover and their Z-series vacuums. They just totally dumped out all the parts to the landfill and washed their hands of it.

Some companies like Riccar just do not care at all about their old models - even the first ones they made - and will tell someone who owns one to just go buy a newer model. Very unhelpful.

Like you said - it's about saving the vacuums. Someone has to care. I have a super rare Miele canister and most of the parts I need for it are in England and Germany - it's gonna have to wait until I get a job because that vac is gonna bankrupt me! Some dummy used it as a garage and car vacuum so it's horribly beat up and just bodged together - it looks so sad. I believe it is the powered version too but I'm not 100% sure.
